VARGAS SEIG
- MALE
- 18 YEARS OLD
- BORN ON 21ST MAY
- STRAIGHT
PERSONALITY
- Out of Battle:
- "Whoa, take it easy, mate! Ain't like the world is going to end today."
That is probably the sentence that can best summarize Vargas's personality.
As a child, this mage had always been too quiet, afraid of making contact with anyone else due to the irrational fear of getting hurt, despite there being no real danger whatsoever. This caused him to isolate himself from those surrounding him, practically living in his own little world in which he simply behaved as told and did what was expected of him. Thi lifestyle, however, quickly became dull and unsavory for him as he advanced into teenagerhood, the borderline between boy and man.
Once he turned into an adult, Vargas had suffered a radical change. The nervous, fearful kid had been replaced by a laid-back man that tends to be comfortable around everyone and everything, with some kind of inner peace it's quite hard to disturb. He'd rather do things on his own way and at his own pace, although this does not mean that he is slow and lazy.
He is, in fact, quite quick-witted, specially when it comes to sarcasm and teasing other people surrounding him, in which he takes great pleasure. Plus, although it may not seem like it, he does work pretty hard when he is on his own, and while he usually is seen doing something other than lying on the couch, Vargas is pretty adept at the ancient art of chillin', which he has honed to near perfection.
Some of his defects probably include his tendence to disregard any difference in rank and authority when addressing someone else; more often than not this has earned him some nasty looks, specially from guards. Unfortunately, this means that some clients will not outright like him, viewing him as a problematic man that disrespects those above him and shows no concern over his childish behavior.
The thing is, Vargas does not care at all, and although at times it is great not to depend on anyone else's opinions on you, it also makes it somewhat difficult to involve himself in trouble that is not his own business. He will tell you on his own; he's no hero. Your classical heroes have to stand up for everyone else, share everything they have, give their lives for others, and a huge amount of similar tropes and stereotypes.
Unless he needs to get involved, he'd rather be the spectator betting another round of drinks on the tough-looking guy that's brawling someone else. This tendence may prove fatal, for if he does jump into action, it may be already too late.
- In Battle:
- "This party is getting crazy! Let's rock! "
During battle, Vargas does not appear to change much at first glance. He still retains his carefree spirit and typical jokes and retorts. His devil-may-care however does a great job hiding another side of him, although after the first strikes it will be obvious for the opponent.
Vargas relishes in battle, despite not seeking conflict outside of his own business. He enjoys fighting, he has always done ever since the first taste of battle, early in his childhood; that was probably what prompted the change in his personality over the years. He has no qualms about fighting alongside other people and he certainly is no glory hogger; if he has had a good battle, he might as well just let someone else on his team take the credit.
After all, he is all about the action, the adrenaline rush, the accelerated heart beat, the feeling of him being tested, pitted against someone else; all these factors converge to give Vargas the boon of feeling alive. Perhaps that is why he loves it so much, because it is, indeed, the true, ultimate proof of his existance?
In the middle of the fight, Vargas's typical teasing side will also flourish, perhaps taunting the foe a little or adding a little bit of flair to his movements to further illustrate that, even in battle times, he is still taking it easy. The Seig will only get truly serious when, much to his discontent, other lives are at stake and the danger is way too big to fool around.
While caught up on his excitement, Vargas has shown himself to be able to quickly respond and adapt to commands, yet he is a terrible leader on his own; as we recall, he is prone to doing things his way, and usually fails to take into account other factors that aren't the enemies and himself, unless he is told otherwise; hence why he is better at following orders.
Plus, he feels that a leader should be someone a bit more serious, and would rather step aside and let someone else handle that drag of a task. Hey, it means that you have to take full responsibility, and he is only responsible of himsef.
Likes:
- Bettering himself: the journey of self-improvement is not easy, yet those who persevere are able to attain newer heights and evolve even further. To Vargas, the feeling of knowing that your possibilities are endless is what fuels his love for living. It doesn't necessary need to be training, it can also be gaining any other type of skill that he has not, or improving those he already features.
- Fighting: needs little to no explanation. We will simply repeat that the competition drives his life and makes him feel alive more than anything else.
- Traveling: every once in a while, the Seig takes great pleasure in visiting some place, anywhere he has never been before, as a way to have time of his own, meet new people, and over all, make new memories.
- Flirting: more often than not, and although he is usually only messing around, Vargas will drop flirtatious comments when meeting women around his age more, maybe a bit younger or older. He will typically do it since there's little harm in it and he enjoys watching people react to it.
- Beer and pizza: ah, how hard it is to love that which does you no good. This temptations, he fails to resist, and may you be warned; he tends to succumb to them more frequently than not.
Dislikes:
- Adapting to someone else's pace: as we have said, Vargas does things on his own way, and it really is painful for him to have to adapt to anything like a schedule, or any demands a client may have, which is a bother for doing missions. Includes a dislike for rules and regulations.
- Boring battles: a battle cannot be enjoyed when someone is blatantly superior and is just toying with you. While Vargas likes a challenge and will face those with greater power, he is not so comfortable being the superior one (by a wide margin).
- Dark Guilds: even if he won't butt in the business of anyone else unless specifically commanded to, the Seig does not like nor approve the majority of work done by this type of associations.
- Half-assed work: if you are going to do something, you might as well go get it right. The Seig can't help but to feel disrespect towards people who do not give their all when engaged into something.
- Vegetables: "Oh, dear lord". Serve Vargas a plate full of veggies and you will be able to witness the most unorthodox methods and attempts to get rid of them, ranging from the classical "feed them to your pet" to the more uncommon "hide the whole dish without anyone noticing".
Motivations:
- Surpassing his limitations: become a better man than you were yesterday yet worse than the one you will be the day after. A rather appealing thought, right? Well, the Seig thinks so too.
- Meeting new people: having someone else aroung to tag along for the joys of life a day or two is great, and thus, Vargas loves expanding his social circle as much as he can. A drink is much more enjoyed between two, three... the more, the merrier.
- Money: not going to lie, Vargas has lived his childhood in a family that was not that rich, and wants to accumulate a small fortune to enjoy during his twilight, even if it's far away. He still doesn't know what to do with it, though, but he will figure it out; time ain't an issue. The thing is, he is TERRIBLE when managing his savings... so there's that.
- Finding a rival: someone that will help you push yourself to the very limit. Yes, a healthy rivlary would do Vargas quite good, while giving him someone to trust as well, should it be a friendly rivalry.
- Havin' a blast!: Hey, there is a great deal of things one can do in life, and Vargas seeks to milk our limited time here until he kicks the bucket. Hence, he wants to enjoy himself as much as possible, and live a life he will be proud to remember.
Fears:
- Commitment: "Nope, nope, nope". Those are the first words that come to his mind at the first sign or hint of romantic commitment. As a free spirit, he needs his own space, a piece of the world for himself. Sharing it with others occasionally is good, but permanently? Heck no!
- Risking someone else's life: Vargas is no leader, and he hates having to account for the safety of anyone but his own, mostly because should he be the one leading the charge, he would be uncapable of performing well. Watching someone you like or love die is already painful, but knowing it is your fault is even worse.
- Being useless: part of the reasons why he is so obsessed with self-improvement is that he was worthless as a kid, and does not want to go back to those days. Ever.
- Spiders: have you seen their eyes? They have no soul! While he can effectively dispatch arachnid enemies, Vargas will certainly cringe and have goosebumps while doing so. Makes little sense given he has faced worse, but hey, some things are just out of reach.
GENERAL APPEARANCE
Height: 6' 3'' | 1.90 meters
Weight: 198 lb | 90 kg
Hair: Vargas sports white/silverish hair, of average length for a guy. He tends to let it do its own thing and hardly ever styles it. Usually, he will make his bangs part on the right side of his forehead, and from there it simply falls down, covering up to his eyebrows and his ears. When seen from behind, it's long enough to hide most of his neck.
It's not that much of a flashy style, but it lets him keep his profile a bit lower... as low as you can with white hair on your head, that is.
Eyes: Grayish blue, almond-shaped eyes of an average size, perhaps a bit small. Vargas has never needed to use glasses or the like, his eyesight is particularily good.
Skin Tone: Fair, slightly tanned
- Appearance:
Vargas was quite lucky in the genetic lottery, as some may tell. Physically speaking, he is quite striking indeed, having grown over six feet which is already enough to tower over most people. Not only that, but his body is well proportioned, and thanks to devoting himself to his self-improvement since his early days as a teenager, he has managed to pack a good amount of muscle. His strong chest and chiseled abs and can be seen whenever he's walking around with his coat open, if he's not wearing a T-Shirt underneath that is. His arms and legs do not fall short either; their respective muscle groups have also undergone heavy training and as such are also greatly defined. Little to no amount of excess fat can be spotted in his body.
Although he won't state it out loud, he prides himself on his overall physique.
Going a little furhter in detail, the angular features of his face give him a much more mature vibe than what his demeanor and personality. His gazes, albeit typically friendly, are penetrating and full of confidence, perhaps with a slight touch of arrogance; coupled with them are the half-smiles the Seig likes sporting when addressing other individuals. His nose is a bit bigger than average. His small mouth (which he makes up for with his comments) and defined jawline complete his visage, given that his ears are hidden by his white locks.
When it comes to clothing, Vargas is a fan of a somewhat informal style. If he's outside, it will be pretty easy to spot him thanks to his trademark red coat. It has a zip that extends from the neck to the waist; however, it is much longer than that from behind and the sides, easily reaching down to his knees. It almost resembles a cloak, or a cape when it comes to length. The long sleeves are usually rolled up and can be seen partially torn on the ends, hinting at how much use does the Seig give it.
Vargas tends to wear it open, baring the central part of his front torso when he's not wearing anything underneath. If he is, it will typically be a black jacket with any sort of T-Shirt , or again, nothing at all. It all depends on the climate or on how he perceives the weather will be that day.
He completes his attire with brown, somewhat baggy trousers in which he can move comfortably, wearing no belts whatsoever. On his feet, he may wear different kinds of footwear; ranging from boots when he's on jobs, to sneakers or trainers if he's chillin' around town.
As far as accessories come, he does wear black leather gloves on his hands in order to handle weapons a little better.
- Typical Attire:
- Winter/Cold attire:
Guild/Council
Guild: Guildless
Tattoo: Red with a black outline, on the right side of his upper back.
Rank: C-Rank
