...How had it come to this?
Dulled, fightless blue eyes creaked open to the welcoming sight of a worn granite floor. A sighful grunt of discomfort slipped through parched lips as the woman in chains slid herself up into a sitting position. She sat there for a couple of moments as she felt pale sunlight and a weak breeze slip through the bars above her. She relished the feeling for as long as she could until she closed her eyes and grit her teeth. "Ghh...ah!", were the sounds of effort that she emoted as she - for the umpteenth time - tried struggling against the bonds around her wrists. "Dammit...!", she exclaimed as her back fell against the cold wall behind her unsuccessfully. Her blue eyes looked down at her red and slightly bloodied wrists where the metal cut into her skin. She slowly unclenched her hands to save her from the stinging pangs from the metal. Her eyes closed once more as she slid down onto the floor to lay.
How had it come to this?
As a mixture of hunger and thirst proceeded to coax the white-haired woman into a sleep fit for a rodent, memories began flooding her starving mind. Images of a immense building with shining ramparts and a huge oak door... Some woman with a bloody tissue to her nose as she laughed... A bright blue bird with striking red eyes placing it's wing over her shoulder... A man with powerful yellow eyes looking down lovingly at her... Her with the yellowed-eyed man and another man with soft green eyes standing alongside a girl with blazing red hair holding a sword... A shadowy figure with a handsome smile and a godlike aura around him... As the woman laid there she shifted her legs to try and make herself feel more comfortable. Or, at least as comfy as she could while she was bound to a wall. Her eyes opened again and she caught sight of a sky blue tattoo sitting in the middle of her thigh. The woman's heart stopped for a moment as she felt tears sting her eyes.
What did all of it mean?
The woman blinked a couple times to push her tears away and her sight settled on a single fluffy cloud wafting overhead. She wanted to get out of here quite badly, she wanted to physically bend those bars into circles and just soar through those marvelous clouds... But why? She couldn't fly. Only Wizards could do that.
And she certainly wasn't one.
