Enola felt nervous around Rune Knights. It was a given. Having once been a criminal herself, she tended to get nervous around those sorts of authority who threatened her liberty and could potentially throw her away into a dark and terrible prison if her long lost secret were ever discovered. She had seen firsthand how the cutthroats she used to call friends had been dragged away from their lifestyle and put away for the rest of their lives, never to see sunlight through the eyes of freedmen again. Granted, she had run into one of those Inopian fellows who managed to avoid jail time much like herself, but he was not very well off. Regardless, the maid knew it was best to avoid those armored men and women, less she risk exposing her past and being put forward for justice to make its harsh ruling on her own unjust past.
The maid could hardly believe it as she received a job notification as Shohei’s manor just that morning that happened to pertain to Rune Knights, specifically for injured veterans. Money was apparently being raised for them and they figured the dust mage would make for good entertainment. The maid was dumbfounded as to why she was hand selected but figured it had to do with one of her various teammates recommending her for the position of “entertainer.” She wasn’t quite sure how to react to the proposition though. On one hand, she was terribly afraid of the men and women in uniform out of fear of becoming their captors, but she also couldn’t imagine turning down the chance to help selfless people who had been injured in the line of duty. It was a hard decision, but the dust mage eventually decided to put her fears behind her and go out and help raise money for the lot (and of course brought her limiter along with her).
Enola went out and took the train as she preferred. She first had to travel to Hargeon Town and flash her pink train pass at the train station. The train pass was something of a coupon that allowed her to ride trains for free at the expense of a ridiculous one-time cost that had to be paid when she first received the pass. It was like a regular train ticket that allowed unlimited uses for a set amount of time. Anguis Pisa had even received one, but Enola thought against allowing her cousin to join her on this cause. Anguis was one of the most scandalous people Enola had the fortune to meet and would likely be little more than a nuisance in the end. It would have been especially painful considering the lamia had an awesome appetited for men in the Rune Knights.
Once she arrived in Hargeon Town, Enola found her way to the building where she was scheduled to meet the group. The idea was that people pay to get into building where Enola would do several wonderful tricks that utilized her magic. It seemed solid and easy to the maid who happily agreed to the idea. They sat up stage, put up the proper lighting, and placed signs all across the area. There had already been a lot of coverage of the event around the city though and the line was quite large that night as the time for the entertaining was about to begin. Seeing all those people gave Enola some nervousness, but she buried her fears and built up her confidence.
She felt stupid, however, as the injured Rune Knights made their way to the event. She couldn’t believe she had been scare of those poor fellows. It was enough to make her feel somewhat insensitive, the first time in a long time. As she saw some of them limping, she was tempted to just go up and hug them. To make it up to herself, she began creating spectacular creations of dust, even turning herself into a dust cloud to awe the crowd. Everyone was amazed to say the least. Many even gasped as the maid turned her head into dust and removed it from her body; although, one woman in her older years fainted at the sight. Once the night was over, the charity organization had raised a large amount of Jewels. The sum was to remain anonymous, but Enola was happy to help regardless. Of course, once the maid returned home, Anguis threw a fit about Enola not getting paid. In truth, the lamia was probably just mad because she couldn’t mooch too many more Jewels off the dust mage.
