    Even if it may seem like it at first I promise this thread includes no manga spoilers. I guess they could be spoilers from a certain point of view. But it includes no specific events, characters, actions or items mentioned. For example if the spoiler was "The new dungeon system includes Heero as a boss enemy!" then this thread would say "There is going to be a new system on the site!" or "Licheborn is going to return as the new guild master of Savage Skull!" would be "An old member is going to return!" So nothing that will ruin the story for anyone.

    Honestly I feel silly putting a spoiler warning on it.

    first off. Character development here is small, so the degree of 'evolution' varies and would require a change in how we scale power, which isn't going to happen.

    Already built something like this. Not sure if its going to be used though.

    The concept is good (as usual Kira), but its just introducing it thats the issue. How do we decide if someone has done well enough in an event to earn one of these?

    The idea of bonuses that are individually choosable is a lot better than the Class idea I had. So having these as sort of milestones, the members could choose for their characters. It's a grand idea, really. There are a ton of bonuses that could work, and in comparison to my classes idea, these are a lot more versatile and prone to balancing. I support this idea 100%.

    The way I'm imagining this is that upon hitting a certain amount of Exp, you are able to choose a new bonus. Let's say I'm Heero, and I just hit 100 Exp. Now I could choose my first bonus. That would be Raw Power.

    Now my spells deal, let's say 110% of their initial damage. Meaning more HP damage in total. So instead of them dealing 10 HP damage, they deal 11 now. Sucks right? But wait! There's more. So I'm Heero, and now I hit 150 Exp and C Rank. I get to choose another bonus.

    OR I get to level one up I already purchased. So I'm Heero, and I purchase Raw Power Ver.2. That means, my spells now deal 130% of their initial damage.

    Now I'm Heero, and I hit 300 Exp. I get to choose to either level up a bonus I already have, or choose a new one. Now, he's Heero, so he chooses Raw Power again. The next milestones are at 1000 and 1500 Exp. But he's Heero, and he chooses to level up Raw Power. Now, he's leveled up 4 times after initially picking it as a character bonus. His spells now deal 120% of their initial damage. That's totally kickass, but here's the limit. Boni are capped at 5 levels.

    Let's say, for purposes of focusing on bonuses, you are ultimately limited to 4-5 boni to choose from along the way, and the milestones are set up so you have about 20 milestones to upgrade or purchase new boni, which would mean that you can have 4 boni at max, or 5 boni at one stage before max, or anywhere between that.

    This could tie in with the magic app that gets edited a shit ton anyways, or even make its own little section in the registration section. Approval could go quick. Mods would only have to check the number of Exp a member has and see if the member hit enough milestones to finance the upgrades/purchases of their character boni.

    If that idea is too much, I guess I understand. But still, a great idea Kira. Love it. And never leave again. T^T

    Hmmm thats a different way of doing it.

    I did like the idea of this being event rewards.

    I remember Zeno coming up with something similar which were basically 'plot armor' concepts gained during events. Those were more character specific.

    Some generalized perks like these could work I suppose.

    However, couldn't some of these(if not most of them) as is be done with unique abilities. I've done the magic regen one for example.

    Though I suppose those are only 'if it makes sense to the magic'. So perhaps these could be ones that don't even have to be related.

    Like normally a requipper wouldn't get a passive health regen as a unique ability (as it doesn't make much sense...well depends on the requip theme but roll with it) whereas this would allow you to do so

    Couldn't these generalized things, such as more MP and more MP Regen be restricted to these boni? I mean, the unique abilties that do them are basically that anyway. I often see stuff like "Because he trained so hard and is such a badass, he has more MP in general". So instead of that as a unique ability, it would be transferred into these character boni. That would force members to make their unique abilities more magic-focused instead of generalized boni that might benefit them for their mechanics, but not deny them the opportunity to have these traits for their character.

    Yes, that would mean some magics would require reworking, but I don't see it as a major change that would cause major overhauls. Just small stuff like replacing a unique ability you have with something else.

    Apart from that, Unique Abilities enabling HP regen, for example, could just be limited to aspects of healing. If a magic is something like, physical/biological manip, and someone has the passive that they have cellular reconstruction, meaning their body just regrows flesh/bones/meat yadda yadda, enabling them to have increased healing properties. Limbs could for example regrow, and any source of healing is increased by 50%, so if they regen 3 HP per post from their character bonus, they would instead regen 6 HP.

    This streamlines overpowered abilites such as passive hp and mp regen a bit, and gives way for these character bonus to individualize a character's abilities and powers more. It would also make unique abilities a little more restricted and focused on the magic.

    Dunno, but sometimes I feel that Unique Abilities are given too much leeway. As in "you can have hp regen if it coincides with your magic", but everyone that wants passive hp regen finds some way or another anway. Even if you have lightning magic, you'd just say "neurons work faster and cells restructure and heal quicker" or similar.

    That's my opinion on the whole matter anyways.

    You gain exp for events, ergo, you would hit milestones. These milestones could mean that depending on how much a character did/how well the member roleplayed him/how active he was, the rewards could be upgrading to these "milestones". Basically, you did something, up you go one or two milestones.

    Get my drift? They would essentially be event rewards, just indirectly.

    Otherwise, could they not just be partially event rewards anyway? Or something like, boni that ONLY come from events? And regular boni available through regular progress?

    If I were to divide up the ones so far:

    I'm setting the difference between Wisdom and Wisdom(+) as Wisdom does not include the additional "purchase slots." Meaning you just get one spell for each rank versus Wisdom(+) which gives you one spell for each rank and the potential to buy more. Maybe to solidify the difference Wisdom(+) covers H-Rank but Wisdom does not.

    Also just in case someone gets smart Wisdom(+) cannot get X-Rank slots. Even with Uber Spells unlocked.

    I also created Raw Power(+) just now which is like Raw Power except with a 1.5 multiplier over 1.25. If someone gets both it becomes a 1.75 multiplier. A powerful combo but rather hard to obtain.

    The concept is good (as usual Kira), but its just introducing it thats the issue. How do we decide if someone has done well enough in an event to earn one of these?Naturally using high amounts of scrutiny: Highest quality posts, amount of activity, and overall if they were a major contribution of not. Did their character loaf around until the haggas hit the fan, or were they one of the first ones trying to fix it from the start? Are their posts a bunch of useless words that they put in trying to increase word count, or is it all relevent, and contributing to the awe of their posts? When it came down to it, did they actually make a difference in the outcome, or would their absence mean nothing in the grand scheme?
    I understand this means higher ranked, more seasoned RP'rs would get the power-ups but that only seems fitting as their characters would be... well stronger in general. Such results might even spur lesser RP'rs to better their writing.

    I only commented on Zack's initial post, and I understand I'm a very, very, VERY useless contributor for the idea, but I don't mind throwing my ideas into the mix even if it's rather pointless. My comments are in this color.

    Kira. I have a possible addition to this.

    This could POTENTIALLY (not saying it will) replace the tertiary system if done correctly. So perhaps one option for these bonuses or boni as people seem to be calling them could be a
    'magic ability'.

    These 'magic abilities' are little things like basic archive use, lockpicking etc. These wouldn't be set, but a person who reaches a milestone might choose to unlock a 'magic ability' slot and get one of these. 

    I'd also like to suggest as one of these evolutions that they get extra secondary spell slots.

    Extra secondary spell slots sounds great. But I don't think replacing the tertiary system would be a great idea. The tertiary system needs to be improved, not debunked.

    See here is the problem with the "magic abilities," and by extension the tertiary system, that you described. Magic abilities would be limited to utility under the circumstances given. When you can choose between a Uber Spell and lock picking it isn't much contest. But the real kicker is that the person without the lock picking power simply won't run into any locked doors. Being a god of our own universe we the rpers have the ability to just have every door ever be unlocked. It's not really a good thing to do, but it is the fact that we can that devalues any ability like lock picking. Even Archive can be discarded if you just claim to have a really good memory.

    Sad but true.

    As such I plan to keep evolution ideas mostly generic and non-magic specific.

    Oh yeah by the way Seikatsu. You have set some very high standards for evolution qualification there.

    Earlier I said

    "Now you asked how we determine if a person has participated in an event enough I was personally thinking that players should be getting these more often then not. Like if you just participate in an event the way you should, you'll do good enough for an evolution. Since events are already few and far between setting the bar low won't cause some kind of evolution over population. It should be easier to get an evolution then to not get one if you just participate. I'd set the criteria as "If someone skimming the event thread can see you regularly posted you pass."

    Might this make evolutions too easy considering their power? Maybe but it will be balanced in that most of the active members will be getting it just as easily(even handing out nukes is fair if everyone gets the same amount of nukes), and the scarcity of events would make it difficult to horde evolutions.

    Bottom line, as long as you aren't a one-post wonder in an event you should be able to get it."
