    Spoiler:

This was the first official job of the Vanguard of Infinity Hydra so Hayden decided they might as well go big, no point in being small time. He had ambitions so with that he choose something that would allow him to test out his physical and magical might along with seeing how his team mates fairs in a setting that wasn't one where the undead roamed- though he would be looking into that matter soon enough. Hayden had did a bit of discussion of the job with Rohma eventually getting her agreement to pursue this dastardly duo that would be brought to justice- with Hayden and Rohma being the two to deliver justice.

Hayden had explained that he would prefer to bring them in alive for the added bonus, never could have to much money when it came to affairs like this. So with that being said the duo would take a train to the fabled town where their jobs lay- with a small discussion with the people who had placed the job about where to head and investigate which turned out to be the docks at this very night. They had no room for error as they needed to save every single slave and make sure that the two behind this was brought to justice- this was a job Hayden could get behind. So as the sun set the two would be off to the docks where out story picks up at!

"Be on your guard, I have a feeling that we will be met with resistance soon- this has been far to easy." Hayden warrior instincts kicking in as he walked forward leading them into the enclosed buildings that led to the ships, they would have to navigate the closed and shadowy alley ways to make sure that they got the drop on them but at the same time.. you never knew what you was gonna meet in the darkness.

The sheer fact that this job existed was a testament to the lower spectrum of humanity. Never mind that such a market might be thriving in various parts of the world. ’Bloody sickos and pathetic sacks a crap….damn it.’ It sickened her, the woman unable to quiet her mind and quell spontaneous scenarios. She’d met plenty of nice people throughout her travels and the thought of them behind bars while some slimy bastard passed a wad of cash to another….or what if it was her best friend…’I’d skin these ass hats alive myself.’

However the aim was to bring them in alive for a bit of extra change – something that easily sparked the woman’s interest so she continued to squash any budding anger on behalf of the victims. Her desires unfortunately required large sums of money to fuel, at least if she wanted to go about things the more professional way rather than skulking about temples and the like alone. They could turn into quite the dangerous ventures without at least a small group to look out for one another, so to get a proper group or even a full-on expedition going required capital.

    Gods did she lack capital.

’Being a part of a guild ought a help though.’ She hadn’t imagined forming a team so soon, never mind with a fellow who could definitely hold his own. Lady luck must’ve stricken her, allowing the scripture mage a preferable support option.

Even if “support” sometimes meant lodging a bullet in someone’s skull.

’Still woulda been nice to get a more advantageous position than walking into the den itself.’ While she’d still brought the sniper rifle, the thing’s form rewritten into a pendant dangling from the usual strings of leather that hung loosely around her neck. The pistols and blades were in their usual holsters, ready to slip out whenever she should need them. Keeping behind the broad fellow she kept a keen eye open, the dim lighting of the harbor lamps a little annoying as they left one walking the line between light and night vision. Even keeping more towards the darker sides to avoid detection the things irked her to the point she considered shooting out some of the bulbs if it wouldn’t be for the noise. ’I suppose I could turn them out silently…but even that would grab someone’s notice. Better if we get the drop rather than them getting a head’s up, and I guess if they’re less cautious then we’ll notice ‘em first...’

As the two entered into the allies they would be surrounded by shadows allowing them to use the natural darkness as a stealth cover. People always forgot the advantage being just a bit sneaky and slow in life could provide even if it wasn't always the quickest way to the top. For this mission however it would prove useful as the two came upon a group of rather young and sloppy looking slavers playing cards at a table; most likely on some type of weird tyrant slave break. Hayden looked to Rohma offering a nod as if to say they would attack at the same time, his hand closing into a fix as he offered a smirk to her. His definition of stealthy may need a overview as he simply burst from the shadows like a a ethereal specter jumping at them as magical energy was imbued into his fist as he pressed it into the table as a sudden explosion was heard blasting them all away. He had just used his Destructible V1 spell a D rank spell that had managed to knock out the closest three but sent the other two spiraling away; injured but still able to fight.

Hayden would turned to them beginning to remove his sword but knowing full well his partner in justice would be able to handle the thread- though with that attack he had alerted the nearby area to his location. Besides- he wasn't the stealthy type anyway. Then again his partner may not have liked his actions- yet they knew him.

Post by Cielle 10th October 2015, 8:25 pm

Everything was going smoothly, beautifully in fact: Rohma couldn’t have wished for better. Through the darkness they crept, not unlike some…perhaps…ninja? Maybe not quite that par, but for the most part the table of card playing criminals paid them no mind as they snorted, grunted, bet, and generally acted like no one could see them in their natural habitat. ’Jeez if I didn’t know any better it’d just be a dude’s night out…at the harbor.’ Their lack of presence or mind to their general surroundings were astounding for someone basically keeping guard of the place. She didn’t things could get any easier or sillier.

And then she forgot who exactly she’d partnered with for this job.

To the woman’s credit, they were still getting to know each other, but Rohma couldn’t help slapping her forehead with the palm of her hand, ’Why the hell didn’t I see this coming….’ Like a percussionist he slammed right out there, solo, with a bang and everything. Already most of the table lay scattered in wooden chunks, chips clattering while cards fluttered to the ground, and most of the group already taken out either from the spell or possibly hitting their head – honestly it’d happened too fast she couldn’t quite tell.

’No fuckin’ point watching my steps then!’ she thought sulkily, walking hastily after him and if her goal hadn’t been to swiftly kick one of the other two fellows in the head she may very well have stooped to stomping in her anger. Rolling the other guy onto his stomach – the poor sap too dazed to fight back – she wrenched his arm back and let her grip slacken only enough to let off the main pressure. At this point the only conscious guy from the guard group now lay whimpering beneath her as a fiery green gaze that could’ve mirrored a dragon’s fixed on a certain man, ”So….what the hell happened to the sneaky approach? Unless they’re having a fuckin’ FIESTA in there, I’m pretty damn sure everyone’s figured out some shit’s going down outside. What’s the plan if we suddenly get swarmed, hm?” Sitting on the one slaver’s back, when the guy so much as wiggled she yanked his arm back up, sending the criminal into another fit of whimpering, the action only partially curbing her anger.

"You're cute when you're angry." Hayden chided as he lifted his hand to his sword as he knealt down pressing his hand to the ground as if searching for something; when one dealt with crash magic they could generally know if something was on the other side of the wall they touched or floor for this matter. He had the special ability to make doorways without straining himself but they also let him know if there was something on the other end of what he was touching but he had his suspcions that their may be a secret tunnel under them. Yet he looked to his rather angry team mate who rage could reflect his own offering a sheepish smile.

"We fight of course- but before you hurt me lets question the prisoner, yes?" He asked quickly diverting her attention to the slaver she currently had- he didn't need to be hurt in the middle of a mission but he understood her anger. He was him afterall. But he looked to the slaver with a serious look after the smile beginning to stand at his full height of five foot eleven still taller than the average man, if the slaver looked up they would see the large blade next to their face and the black robes Hayden wore almost appearing like a Death God. Striking fear into the hearts of people was something Hayden could use to advantage- something that made the young man quiver.

"You should talk- quickly about where the slaves are and your leader."

The glare she offered in retaliation said enough, though the man preferred to feel up the ground according to her annoyed mindset. Instead she mumbled, ”Don’t get freakin’ cute with me bub.” However she kept it quiet, more to herself since he appeared to be concentrating on something. When his attention returned and he offered that sheepish smile and suggestion she rolled her eyes, ’Right. Of course. He’s gonna pay for this one some way or another I swear.’ Maybe she’d force him to work at a maid café or something equally odd for such a man of action.

There was time for vengeance later.

She’d relaxed enough on her hold that the man’s arm was basically just held behind his back, the other secured to his side still thanks to her legs locked on both sides, yet her hand had yet to release its grip on his wrist. For reasons beyond her comprehension however the sniveling little fool attempted a brave face.

    ”O-or what? No m-matter what, I lose!”

A yelp quickly escaped his mouth as a certain ticked off mage immediately yanked one of his fingers back so far it almost broke, twisting his wrist as a reminder of his position, ”Because someone’s still in the position to feel pain, and at least if you give in we might just leave you tied up out here ready to be picked up by the Rune Knights. You might be in trouble, yes, but you’ll be alive and able to do something worthwhile with your life yet.” The temptation to simply break his wrist and be done with him was still strong, but if they could get something out of him then it wouldn’t be so bad to leave the guy handcuffed to a pole or something. However she’d probably strip him to his boxers in some form of repentance for his sins.

Forever branded as the man arrested in his underwear. He’d be the badass of the prison ward no doubt.

"Or I can just Kill you. I really don't care."

Hayden voice was cool and calm, that was the scary part for the young lad how this legal council mage held no qaums it seemed with severing his head from his shoulders. Quite frankly it scarred the young made so much that when the man finished he had sent a shiver Rohma had felt down his spine, the once brave face dropping as the blade inched closer pressing into the flesh of his neck drawing a small fine line of blade painfully but he quickly began to talk.

"Wait wait please no! There's a tunnel below us that leads to the slaves by all holy please don't Kill me- Uggglrk."

The words didn't finish their sentence as Hayden sent his foot into the guy's forehead snapping his head back as his eyes rolled into the back of his head. A crack was heard as the man's head went slack as the small amount of bone that kept his brain connected to his body snapped rendering him medically dead. Hayden had ended the man's life swiftly and quickly his voice cold as he looked to Rohma with no remorse for what he had done. He was a slaver and he held no mercy to those he took so Hayden would hold none for him. Besides he never promised he'd live.

"Let's go before they show up." He told her as he knelt down forcing his magic into the ground as it began to convulse and split backwards revealing a dry tunnel Hayden waiting for Rohma to go in so he could close it behind them. They needed to go and they could discuss his actions later if she disapproved.

Liberation of Slaves [Rohma/Hayden] Empty Re: Liberation of Slaves [Rohma/Hayden]

Post by Cielle 11th October 2015, 12:37 am

Eyes widened as Hayden’s foot struck the man, Rohma flinching as for a brief moment she believed she might get kicked as well. She completely pushed away from the guy, partially from reaction, partially to avoid any final twinges and spasms from the fellow – and particularly avoid any bowel releasing he’d go through soon enough. Certainly not a pretty death, but a quick one so at least he didn’t have to suffer long.

Again the woman glowered at her companion, a little aghast at his lack of forethought on these matters. The sudden hole letting them into the tunnel was welcome and blessedly a lot quieter and subtle than he’d been so far, so she let up a bit on her anger because at least he let ladies go first, though so help him if there turned out to be zombies down there because sometimes manners could just go shove it. She was pleased to note a lack of undead – or even dead for that matter – in the tunnel as well as some dim lighting. ’Not bad, was afraid we’d have to deal with flash lights the entire way or somethin’,’ she thought, waiting until the man made it down.

”He didn’t have to die you know,” she paused, sighing before fixing him with a mildly annoyed expression, ”I’m trying to be understanding but I’d like it if you could think ahead a little at times. This door trick? Impressive, I love that it’s subtle and they don’t know we came in a ‘side door’ so to speak. But that guy? If we’d let him live there were good chances – good – that he’d become someone’s prison bitch. By that definition he could’ve paid for his crimes a little before an inevitable shanking or death in some riot. And if he’d made it out with his life then there’s always the possibility of somethin’ goin’ down, but the dude could’ve stood to learn a slightly longer lesson than you gave him. I’m not saying can’t break necks or let the head’s roll or nothin’ because there’ll be people we just can’t bring in, just that sometimes it’d be nice if they had time to reflect on their poor life choices before it all ends. But I ‘spose as long as we take the bosses alive I don’t really care…the idea just might’ve amused me a bit.”

Okay so the lecture hadn’t been wholly necessary this time, but she did want him to think about these things in the future. Just because they let a guy live didn’t mean he got off scott free after all.

Post by MorpheusDavol 11th October 2015, 12:53 pm

Ok so she did have a point that if he let the guy live he could have became someone prison bitch, frankly that idea made Hayden a lot more willing to let someone live at least with Rohma their to quell his anger with brief reminders. It was important he himself did not become one of the monsters he hunted but that's why he had a team; to keep himself grounded along with his team mates. He trusted Rohma so he would take her advice to heart for now as they proceeded down the tunnels. He turned to look at her after the small speech and nodded in agreement.

"I understand then, frankly that idea seems more amusing." He admitted as they walked through the dark tunnels; Hayden could hear noises in the distance as he began to crouch slightly look to Rohma. Perhaps he would let her handle this one motioning to his head for her to check it out; he had enjoyed his actions but she was more lithe then him allowing her to scout and sneak better than him- all it would take was a yell and he'd be over their within mere moments. "How bout you check it out since I went a tad overboard last time- besides your more lithe than me. If you need help just yell and I'll come running but try to only engage them if you think you can handle them otherwise come back to me? That's fine?" He asked to get her thoughts on his plan.

Liberation of Slaves [Rohma/Hayden] Empty Re: Liberation of Slaves [Rohma/Hayden]

Post by Cielle 12th October 2015, 3:02 am

Already he took her suggestions into consideration in a sense, offering to let her scout ahead rather than charging in without another thought. Not that they hadn’t at least seen the card game going on, just that he’d acted on it in a more spur-of-the-moment fashion that she wasn’t used too. ’Eh, I might’ve been a bit unfair though,’ she reconsidered, ’Can’t expect someone who’s still a bit of a stranger to conform to my side immediately.’ Besides there’d be times where blasting in without warning could be useful as long as it was without warning to the enemy, and they didn’t have to live per say just…as long as he considered the possibilities.

Nodding to the man, she slipped around him to check down the corridor, spying an open door where it seemed to emanate from. The woman turned her body a little, just enough to offer him a mock salute with a roguish smile, ”Be back soon cap’n.” Double checking both ways, she crept as quickly as she could without making a scuffle, a hand lightly tracing against the wall as the woman moved without fluttering even her clothes too much. It’d been a skill she practiced over time as one couldn’t always be sure they were alone in ancient temples, crypts, and things of that ilk. Closer and closer she came to the door, ears straining to listen to the voices and how many there might be.

’Unless they’ve got a mute or quiet bud…sounds about two?’ She’d allow for the possibility of more, but disabling at least two would help the situation and they wouldn’t get someone coming out of another room around one of the corners. ’Do I chance the peak…or just go for it…choices…’ On one hand it could be barracks and maybe some people were napping inside, but on the other hand it might really just be the two. Well…maybe she’d just take a page out of his book.

As the pair inside laughed raucously at some lewd joke she took the moment to unsnap one of her pistols, pumping a spell bullet into the chamber that’d release instead of the actual bullet, the other hand pulling out the blade that should’ve attached to the gun. By the time she hit three she jumped into the doorway and shot the spell towards the two the moment her eyes locked on them, a small blast of light going off in their eyes before the world became all too trippy.

It was a rare person who could view the world as she did and be okay with it.

Seeing the underlying code or structure of sorts could be very disorienting, the things showing up in lines going this way and that, some of them other colors while many objects blended together if one couldn’t control the vision. It’d been a task she practiced in those younger years when she had to become accustomed to this magic or lose her sanity because of it.

The new form of vision stunned them, leaving them speechless outside of babbling. She wouldn’t wait for them to get their bearings naturally, already charging into the room and slamming the blade into one of their necks, the thing readily sliding into the juncture where neck met shoulder. The other fellow she wanted to keep alive if only for a moment, pistol whipping him and forcing both arms behind his back when the lanky man hit the floor. Yanking the button up shirt off his overturned chair, she quickly wrapped his aching limbs up before shoving the banana left on the table into his mouth to ensure he couldn’t make too much noise – though he was still a bit dazed.

”Ey,” she called out from the door, keeping her voice akin to a stage-whisper, ”You wanna question this guy at all or should I just take him out?” He could know a bit of the layout and lead them in the right direction she figured, but he could just as well offer untrustworthy information that’d lead them into a spot of trouble. Either way Rohma figured between the two of them Hayden was more likely to scare some truth out of the guy.

It seemed his team mate was ahead of him as she professionally managed to dispatch the guards something that got a small whistle from him as he expressed his impressed stature. As she whispered for him he stepped around the corner offering a mere shrug, he didn't need any additional info he thought of yet so he waved his hand to take him out. How she did it was up to him even if she didn't kill him he would trust her judgement. He waited for her to make the choice before looking around as if to plan their next move.

"Take him out however you wish, lets stop and consider our options quickly before proceeding however." He informed her as he knelt in the tunnels pressing his hand to the ground as if searching for something or any tremors within the earth. Maybe if they where luck another passage would be somewhere. Hayden didn't feel anything however as he looked back to his black haired team mates as thoughts passed briefly in his head about them- he found them strange yet he found himself gravitating towards their light. Someone that operated in the dark could either be illuminated by someone like them or pressed deeper into the shadows as for which would happen to him it was simply a matter of time to tell.

"The slaves shouldn't be much further I believe." He told her thinking back to what the guy said earlier, should they keep going down this tunnel they would find the slaves. Eventually.

Liberation of Slaves [Rohma/Hayden] Empty Re: Liberation of Slaves [Rohma/Hayden]

Unfortunately for the fellow it would seem her partner held no qualms whether the schmuck lived or died, and left it up to Rohma. Now Rohma wasn’t lazy per-se, but the woman didn’t feel a compulsion to go out of her way to make sure this fellow suffered. Those up top would’ve been easier to round up and leave for the Rune Knights to collect. Besides there’d likely be some people at the end aside for the bosses who could receive a bit of mortal punishment. ”Sorry bub,” she murmured to the slaver, the man only now starting to come back around however slight. Spying the creeping sense of panic in his eyes the woman made it quick: a jab through the neck with the same blade that stole the life of his friend. At least it’d be quick enough as he’d joke on his blood and the bits of banana he’d bitten down and accidentally inhaled.

”Stranger things have been found on autopsies I’m sure.” She left the room, cleaning the attachable dagger on one of their handkerchiefs, finding Hayden testing the ground again. It was hard to say what he was looking for or if he found it, the gun-toting mage staring down the hall towards one of their objectives. ”Good, sooner we get there, sooner this mess’ll be over, they can return to their lives, and we can leave the rest of the clean up to the knights. Literal and figurative.” She momentarily amused herself with pondering whether or not there was some sort of janitorial service that the Rune Knights employed before tossing it aside. They had bigger fish to fry right now, and possibly a couple of guppies along the way.

”Lead the way, I’ll be right beyond ya.”
