Train the recruits

The sun glared from the pristine stone. Triatath walked through the training grounds, the air had the odor of work on a hot day. Triatath stepped into a massive area around the size of a football field, the area was full of a mixture of gravel and a sickeningly yellow sand. The recruits stood before him, dozens of them sprawled before him in even lines. The sun beat down upon them as they panted in their full woolen uniforms. "Right!" Triatath said with a stern look, his voice was strong and clear "I may be younger than all of you here, but I sure as hell have more experience than you depressing lot." Triatath took out a light pen from his coat pocket, he proceeded to draw a large tank, full of some sort of liquid. "this is your magic power" announced Triatath "When you use any spells, or magical items, you will consume some of this, like it is food or water. As mages; food, water and Magical power are your three main resources which you will need to replenish. Over time you will regain your magic power. Magic power is much like a muscle, the more you exercise it, the stronger it becomes. Now can anyone tell me what the two kinds of magic types are?" Triatath looked upon them disappointed. Triatath walked forward towards the group of blank faced individuals who would soon become soldiers. A shorter recruit near one end raised his hand up like a beacon, beckoning Triatath to call on him.

You! there with your hand up! Tell me the answer if you would be so kind. Triatath smiled a little knowing that at least someone knew the answer. "Um, Can I go to the toilet" He said in a very rude manner, the boy was making an odd face and scrunching his legs together. "GO!" Triatath said hastily, brushing the young man aside as he scrambled towards the nearest building. Triatath reached his hand into his front pocket on his suit jacket, pulled out a handkerchief and threw the yellow fluttering fragment of fabric, fluttering in the wind. A large man stepped forward and presented the object to Triatath. Triatath smiled and handed him a smooth silver key labeled 'Canis Major' in a wonderful waving font. Triatath stepped forward and presented a similar key to the crowd. "The first type of magic I will be teaching all of you about is known as 'Holder' Magic. Triatath paced back and forth, looking sternly at the crowd. He swiped his hand in front of him, the familiar bells of the celestial spirit world chimed in front of him as a small yellow figure representing a snowman with dog paws as hands stepped out of a bright yellow portal. It was trembling and was about one foot tall. "what I just used, was a celestial spirit key. This is the weakest one I have. It consumes almost no magic power and it has virtually no real abilities outside of looking a little cute. This is what holder magic is; using an item or magic tool to cause magical things to happen. The next brief explanation I will give is about magic known as 'Caster' magic. Then I will go into a bit more detail on how to use these items." Triatath spun on his heel and faced the audience. "any questions?" Triatath said as he took the other silver key from the tall man outside of the crowd.

Triatath peered around at the sunken expressions on people's faces. "You lot seem too tired for a bunch your age" He said with a disappointed look on his face. "DROP AND GIVE ME 200! Triatath yelled out into the crowd, groaning, and winging came from the lot, about half of them began to push off of the ground at a rhythmic pace. Triatath walked over, slamming whoever was still standing onto the ground. Soon enough, all of the men were sweating on the ground, the heat bearing down on their backs, cooking them. Triatath Announced "I will now show you the other type of magic known as caster magic, continue but please look at this demonstration" He said, pacing whilst looking over the men. He squatted down, his legs bent, looking towards the sky. Triatath announced the words "jet engine" under his breath as he rocketed into the air explosively. Triatath flew up a good thirty feet into the air before plummeting back down and deftly landing on his feet. "caster magic involves the user physically using magic instead of through a medium or and object. A majority of the magics which I have witnessed are caster however using caster or holder magic is simply a choice of preference. Triatath sat in the  dust, "Now, halt your exercises and lets start some magic. You all were given a standard edition scepter which will allow you to use some simple forms of magic. I will now teach you how to use this magic." Triatath stood proudly in front of the recruits as they all panted in the excruciating heat.

"unfortunatly for you lot, I prepared a test, because this job is not about whether or not you can physically do magic, it is about preparing you to begin magic, and allow you to understand the basics of magic." Triatath stood in front of the men with a extremely straight posture, his eyes looking forward as he pulled out a large stack of papers from behind his back. He tasked a young man in the front to hand out one packet to each person. "You will complete this test within the next hour, if you fail to do so, you will be forced to stay out here for the rest of the day, sweeping the dust off of the surrounding area instead of getting lunch. Do I make myself clear?" a Large abrupt- "sir yes sir!" erupted from the crowd. The men began work using the pencils which they carried on them. The test was fairly simple, Triatath supplied them with a list of facts which they had to memorize in the first ten minutes, then they had to continuously answer questions through the entire test about each fact. The test would be very easy if the recruits were paying attention. Unfortunately, the recruits seemed less than happy to do the test.

Triatath peered at the student's papers, eyeing each one to make sure that they were not cheating. Triatath moved around, like a bird of prey, waiting for someone to drop dead so that he could pick at their remains. Triatath pulled a large fragrant apple from his jacket pocket and bit into it, the crunch of his teeth against the hard skin and flesh of the apple cracked through the air like a lightening bolt, freezing cold fluids from the apple dribbled down Triatath's chin where they were quickly dabbed away by a handkerchief. Triatath began to pace between the masses collecting papers, some with incomprehensible scribbling on them, some with amazing handwriting as if it was done by a magic quill. Triatath could mark the papers extremely quickly due to his 'jet brain' so he blazed through the papers silently whispering to himself "they're so... stupid" whilst shaking his head. Triatath cleared his throat and announced "You All Failed!" The crowd hung their heads in shame "but" Triatath said with a smirk on his face "you all passed the basic understanding of magic areas of the test, the only areas you failed in were standard questions which did not require knowledge of magic. So theoretically, in the knight's eyes, you have passed. So give yourselves a good pat on the back, and leave." Triatath smiled as he dismissed the troops into the colder buildings as he made his way under a set of trees where he collapsed from the heat. "not bad for my second job eh" he uttered to the sky as he drifted into a coma-like sleep.
