Hoshi:

Personality-wise, Hoshi is extremely scared. Of everything. One of the most often heard things you will hear her say is "It's so scary!" The very definition of scaredy-cat. Besides her fear of just about everything, Hoshi is an overall very cheerful exceed. She always tries to make the non-scary people in her life happy, which is, well, basically only Sorano. This is because Sorano had saved Hoshi after an enemy of Sorano's family had blown up Sorano's home and many other habitats, including the clan of exceeds living nearby. This is also why Hoshi is so scared of everything, being a bit paranoid after the attack. There is another side of Hoshi, however. This side, you don't want to mess with. If one of her friends are in danger, Hoshi seems to transform into someone completely different. She will attack without abandon and try to rip through every possible enemy to save her friends. Thus very rarely happens, though.

Despite her formerly shy and constantly frightened nature, Hoshi has matured and come into her own quite a lot over the past few years in Fairy Tail. Whereas before she would resist talking to others and preferred to take a backseat in any jobs she and Sorano went on, over time she has slowly overcome her fears. Learning magic and combat from Rose and other exceeds at the guild, Hoshi was able to slowly participate in more and more battles, becoming a reliable partner for her guild master and childhood friend. Nowadays, the two no longer spend as much time together, however, as Hoshi has her own jobs with delivering mail and packages outside of mage work.

The exceed is a bright, bubbly character who has become outgoing and friendly to all those she meets. She's one of those people who always greet you cheerfully in the morning, never seeming to lose her energy. Being very open towards meeting others, Hoshi attracts many friends and acquaintances throughout the guild and her town, becoming a well-known face in the region. However, despite her sociable attitude and nature, the exceed can still be very insecure and nervous on the inside. She still fears that people may not like her, or that she's not doing a good enough job for her guildmates as a mere exceed. Such a belief pushes her to work extremely hard behind the scenes, spending much of her free time training and practicing her magic, so when troubles arise, she can make sure to pay everyone back for all the guild has down for her.

As for her magic, Hoshi's abilities were gifted to her after an encounter with Mother Earth, the spirit that exists in all nature in Earthland. Unfortunately, this does mean that none of her magical abilities work outside of the planet. In order to utilize these gifted abilities, she taps into her connection with the Mother, and channels her energy to cast spells.
