History: Ando Tessai may strive to be like the strong warriors of his bloodline, but he is actually the oddball of the family for one specific reason.
He is the first male warrior of the Tessai family.
Long ago, one of the most revered warrior families was the Tessai bloodline. A family with peculiar luck, each daughter of the Tessai family had a daughter instead of a son, without fail. Some say it was the actions of a curse, others called it a blessing. Whatever it may have been, the Tessai family called it a gift. Each daughter was born strong and swift, built to be the perfect warrior. Once the time came, they would find someone to marry and have their child, birthing another daughter and continuing the chain of female warriors.
The combat prowess and gender of the Tessai bloodline was not the only known factor. Each member of the family commanded the power of the planet's core itself, controlling hot magma and molten stone with relative ease. Each warrior would master it, carrying the family name with it. As a final point to the legendary family legacy, each new daughter was handed the Blade of Ashes, a family heirloom. Said to be crafted in the fires of the planet's core and with the steel of the molten stone, the Blade of Ashes was nigh-indestructible and perfectly suited for the family's molten magic. Together, with blade and magic in hand, no one could withstand the might of the Tessai family!
That was, until recently.
Lisbeth Tessai is Ando's grandmother, and she was one of the strongest warriors in the family tree, although her memory will forever be tarnished. For, you see, she was the one who lost the Blade of Ashes. In a large battle, and in a small village, a landslide of rubble separated Lisbeth from her legendary blade. Upon waking up, her foe had stolen the blade and any other belongings they could. Without a trace to search for them, Lisbeth journeyed until her body would no longer let her, striving to get back the family blade. Alas, her mission was a failure... it remains lost to this day.
At the time of the tragic loss, Lisbeth had already birthed a child. Her daughter, Amelia Tessai, eventually went on to start her own family as well, following in the family's adventurous footsteps and travelling the land. A warrior companion of hers ended up being her soulmate, and the two hit it off. Then, years later, a child is finally on the way, and... shockingly, it's a boy!
Even so, Ando was raised to be a fine, honorable warrior, following the principles of the Tessai family. Lisbeth always called Ando's birth a 'curse' for losing the Blade of Ashes, which hurt his confidence... but Ando simply grew stronger from the comments. Determined to undo the curse upon the Tessai family and find the Blade of Ashes, Ando set off at age 16 to practice the ways of the warrior. Battle after battle, boast after boast, Ando let his reputation as an honorable warrior grow. All was well, and Ando didn't see anything stopping him!
Well, except for a little problem...
Ando was yet to find any information on the Blade of Ashes whatsoever! While he loved the honorable combat and all, he needed information, and allies to help him find the heirloom sword. So, where better than a guild? Jumping at the first invitation he could receive, Ando set off for Magnolia, the Fairy Tail guild awaiting him. Someone there had to know SOMETHING about the Blade of Ashes... right?
RP Sample: The battlefield fell silent, with two figures on each end of it. One was some low-life bandit, overconfident and dim-witted. Lumbering forward a step, he brandished an axe and opened his mouth to speak.
He never got to.
Suddenly, the other figure unsheathed a shiny blade and opened a magic seal, an orange glow permeating the blade. Ashes and cinders slowly drifted off the sword, the particles dancing around the weapon's holder.
"My name... is Ando Tessai! You have challenged me, so you shall feel my power!"
Not even a moment passed before more magic was activated. A series of cracks interlaced underneath Ando, slowly bubbling with a red heat. In an instant, the ground was erupting forcibly with hot magma! Instead of killing Ando, it instead launched him through the air, straight towards the bandit. Sword at the ready, Ando flew just close enough and slashed.
"Eruption Boost!"
As Ando passed by in midar, the bandit fell to the ground. Ando sheathed his sword and paused.
"Hardly a battle. That is to be expected against the power of my molten magic. Try a little harder next time, will you?"
