Dentists usually smiled. This one didn’t. It was understandable though; after all, his daughter was locked in a tower and apparently found a “sun fetish” as Cleona would put it. The pixie, sitting in the office of Dr. Krussler, flipped through all the letters he had received from his daughter over the past few weeks:
“The Sun overcomes the darkness of earthland and the darkness in our hearts.”
“The Sun brings us comfort and gives us life. Without the Sun, there is nothing.”
“My new place is here, with the Children of the Sun.”
The letters sent chill up Cleona’s spine, especially when she noticed “Sun” had been capitalized each time as if Dr. Krussler’s daughter – Mina Krussler – were speaking of an actual person. Cleona handed the creepy letters back to her client and received the last bit of information: head to the Mystic Tower and rendezvous with another set of mages at the entrance. That latter part really irked her – she didn’t want anyone else’s help. Cleona was rather confident she could drag a crazy lady from a tower by herself. Oh well.
After an hour long train ride accompanied by motion sickness as well as a short walk through a rocky canyon, Cleona arrived at the designated rendezvous. She faced a set of stone stairs that lead up to the bulky, Japanese-esque tower. The tower appeared lifeless. No sound, no movement, or anything to suggest it was inhabited.
Cleona sighed and rested on a small rock near the base of the stairs, her face soured. She didn’t like waiting, especially when it came to wizarding jobs. She just hoped her companions for the day weren’t annoying, whoever they’d be. Another groan passed her lips when she tried to check her watch but remembered she didn’t own a watch (because apparently they don’t make pixie-sized watches). It struck her as odd, however, that the sun was up so high Preferring to do jobs in the nighttime, she had left Magnolia Town as the sun was falling. It should have been night by that time, yet the sun seemed even higher than before as if it were noon.
