Size Matters [Marik/Stein]

Job Title: Size Matters

Player Requirements: 20 Posts of 200 words or more. Maximum 3 mages.
Job Requirements: Defeat at least 5 enemies and defeat the magpie to get the ring.
Job Location: Clover Town
Job Description: Mrs. Cartigan, a retired bromance has lost her wedding ring in her garden and needs help finding it. Her garden is incredibly lush, and as such, searching from above will be neigh impossible. Because of this, Mrs. Cartigan will shrink you down to search for her ring. Beware, for as your size scales down, so does your power. Small creatures like rodents and insects are now very real threats. Characters are shrunken down to 2 centimeters in size.

Note: Due to the fact the mages are shrunk down for this job it is impossible for it to be invaded.
Enemies:

Weak:

Ant: A single and out looking for food for its colony. Not too threatening, but can still have a nasty bite. Takes 1-2 C rank hits to kill. Bites do C-rank damage.


Cricket: Crickets are large and can pack a powerful bite, but are not very predatory. Defeating them just means proving you are too much trouble to eat. Takes 1-2 C rank hits to scare off. Bites do C-rank damage

Normal:

Harvestman: Although their bite is less damaging than that of a cricket, the harvestman's long legs make it difficult to fight against. While they look like spiders, they aren't actually, and lack venom. Harvestmen take 3 C-rank hits to their body to kill, or the removal of all legs. Legs come off after taking 1 D rank hit and are much easier to hit than the body. Its relatively small jaws only do D-ranked damage.


Beetle: A predatory beetle with a sturdy exoskeleton and strong mandibles. Its bite deals C-ranked damage and it can take 4 C-ranked hits.

Strong:

Wasp: A predatory wasp with strong jaws and a stinger. Wasps are sturdy, hard to hit, and deadly. They can sting multiple times and will likely employ hit-and-run tactics. Their wings are the weakest point, and hitting them can force the wasp to land. Bite deals C-ranked damage and can pick up opponents to shake them for additional D-ranked damage. Sting deals D-ranked damage on hit and B-ranked damage over 3 posts. Wasps take 5 C-ranked hits to kill. 1 D ranked hit to the wings from fire, electricity, or water magic or 1 C ranked hit of anything else will force it to land.

Jumping Spider: Nimble and venomous, jumping spiders tend to ambush their prey. It is very likely that these deadly predators will take those seeking the ring by surprise. Their powerful bite deals C-ranked damage when it hits and B-ranked damage over 3 posts. Their incredible speed will make them hard for even the fastest of mages to hit, and their sturdy exoskeleton can withstand up to 5 C-ranked hits.

Boss:

Magpie: A magpie swoops overhead and lands nearby with none other than Mrs. Cartigan's wedding ring in its beak! It won't give up its new prize easily though, the magpie. With you at such a small size, this bird is a fearsome enemy. It can attack with its beak or lash out with its talons to deal B rank damage and flap its wings to knock enemies near it back, kicking up dirt and dust in the process. The magpie will take 15 C-ranked hits before it is defeated and flies away. The magpie will appear after 15 posts.

Reward: 10000 jewels and 12 homemade cookies (cookies do nothing, but are delicious).

Stein arrived in an empty area of Clover Town thanks to his pet spike being his largest burrowing test subject and main means of transport. "So this is Clover Town seems rather quit for a town with a legal guild in it." He said dusting himself off after he climbed out of the tunnel. Spike remained underground waiting for Stein's signal to come out. He began to walk around Clover Town looking for the house that he is supposed to meet with another member of his guild. Looking at the address on the houses it took him a few minutes of walking through some crowds of people before arriving to the client's house. "Dr. Stein, my name is Marik, it's a pleasure to meet you." His guildmate said as he stretched his arm towards Stein. "Nice to meet you too Marik." He replied as he took a look at his guildmate. He was a little bewildered about the mask, but decided to ignore it as they proceeded into the house. "We're the ones who accepted your job request." Stein said as they entered the house. Once he said that they were quickly greeted by the woman who sent out the job request who seemed rather relieved that someone actually took her request.

"Are you really a doctor? Or are you just a guy that looks like a doctor and likes to call himself a doctor?" Marik asked while staring at Stein for a while. Pulling an old picture from his lab coat's inside pocket he handed it to Marik. "That was me over six hundred years ago. Although my licence hasn't been valid for a few hundred years I still consider my self a doctor." He said as he looked at the old photo. The photo handed to Marik showed Stein with a group of four doctors and seven nurses with it being dated exactly six hundred and forty three years ago. "Now that your question is answered please don't bring it up again. It brings back too many bad memories." He said as he took his photo back and put back into his lab coat's inside pocket. Marik began asking questions about what would happen to their magic after they get shrunk which made Stein think of something to ask. "Are you able to shrink our pets with us?" He asked cause he'd rather have Spike with him so this job will be easier. "Yes I can so long as they're here." With that Stein snapped his fingers which made his giant scorpion like pet rise out of the ground from under its master having him on its back.

Stein watched as Marik was shrunk in size to that of less than an inch. "You ready?" She asked before he nodded as she shrank him and Spike as well. Stein himself was less than an inch tall, but Spike was shrunk to about five inches which made him think that its only people who are shrunk fully to this size. "Alright Spike let's try finding Marik before trying to get this ring." He said to his pet before it started to move through the grass. Slicing the grass that got in its way Spike essentially made a trail through the grass until Marik's voice could be heard through the grass. "We're coming just cool it already." He replied as they moved out of the grass to where Marik was at. Helping his guildmate onto the back of his pet they started to travel around the room at their current size of speed, which to Mrs. Cartigan they didn't seem to be moving all that quickly, but that's what happens when people are shrunk they seem to move slower than they actually are. Looking around Stein couldn't really see much aside from grass so he decided to have a little aerial view. Summoning Collector who had also shrunk severely in size to look around for them. It was now a little over three inches tall before it scattered into a swarm of five hundred super tiny mosquitoes and scattered around the room.

'Monster Dice' :

Stein saw as a jumping spider landed near them and started to move around them thinking it found its next meal. Marik gave him an opening in order to to try killing it off. Spike went into instant combat mind set and lashed out with both of its stingers, but the spider jumped out of the way and ran towards them. Waiting for the perfect moment Spike spat a cone of webbing on the spider that pinned it to the ground and paralyzed it due to the neural-toxin on the webbing. With the spider being stuck helpless Spike grabbed both sides of its face with his pincers as his hidden stingers stung it through two of its eyes injecting a necrotic venom straight to the head. The spider started to squirm around as the necrotic venom started to take effect which made it do a shriek of pain before dying from its brain literally rotting. "Go ahead and eat up Spike we'll go on ahead. Once you finish find us." Stein said to his pet before he hopped off and proceeded with Marik to try finding the ring. Spike started to rip the dead jumping spider apart before they left making a rather gory scene, but it didn't bother Stein one bit.

'Monster Dice' :

Looking at the Harvestman they came across and noticed that it was salivating as it looked at them. "Another arachnid who is hungry huh? Too bad you'll be killed in a few seconds." Once Stein said that he summoned Blitzkrieg. "Take out the legs Blitzkrieg." With its master's orders Blitzkrieg bolted at the Harvestman's legs. The arachnid started to stomp its legs when the cheetah like creature was near them keeping it from getting in a good attack. Spitting out a string of web that landed on one of the Harvestman's legs Blitzkrieg began to run in a circle around it with the webbing still attached to its mouth until the very end when the arachnid collapsed from it being bound. Walking up to the Harvestman Stein pulled out one of his plasma pistols and pointed it at the helpless arachnid's face. "Pathetic." He said as he fired a ball of plasma into the Harvestman's face and watched as it burned to death from the sheer heat of the plasma ball. Petting Blitzkrieg for doing a good job his creation began to purr from it getting a reward from its master. "You did a good job Blitzkrieg, but now its time for you to go back home." He said as he unsummoned Blitzkrieg and continued on after holstering his plasma pistol.

Seeing a little red dragon appear with a flaming insect carcass he figured the little creature was with Marik since there wasn't any mention of there being tiny dragons. The ground under Stein began to rumble as his pet Spike lifted up out of the ground with him on its back. "Looks like you finished eating Spike glad to have you back with us." Stein said as they continued on through the garden with both him and Marik on the back of his pet. For the most part all they could see was grass and more grass, being this size might make it easier to find small objects, but it makes traveling around a small area take a long time. One of the mosquitoes that made up Collector landed on Stein's ear to relay the information it has gathered thus far from it flying around the garden. "That's good to know. Marik looks like we're headed for the tree up ahead seems that my mosquito found the ring in a bird's nest, but it isn't able to lift it so we'll have to climb up the tree and get it." With the new found information Stein unsummoned Collector as he explained things to Marik.

'Monster Dice' :

While Marik's pet dragon lifted both him and Stein he gave Spike an order. "Spike slaughter anything that gets in your way as you meet us at the tree." The mad scientist yelled to his pet as a gleam in its eyes could be seen as the sense of blood-lust could be felt from the chimera as it began combat with the ant and wasp. The ant wasn't much of an issue since it was more of just climbing on Spike to get to the other section of grass, but before it was able to it was grabbed by the face from one of the pincers causing the hidden stinger to stabbing it in the face rotting the inside of its head. Once it stopped moving Spike sliced its head off and dropped both the body and head as the wasp tried to do something. The wasp attempted to sting Spike, but it couldn't pierce his exoskeleton with its stinger it didn't even leave a scratch where it attacked. Watching the wasp fly around him Spike quickly dug underground causing the wasp to hover nearby which is what the chimera was wanting the insect to do. With Spike's amazing burrowing speed he was able to go down enough to reach the wasp's flying height by shooting straight up. Shooting out of the ground like a torpedo Spike missed with his pincer attack, but nailed the wasp with both of its tails. Landing on the ground Spike began ripping the wasp apart before he went back into the ground and began to head towards the tree.

Spike quickly made his way to the tree and began to climb the tree just unfortunately it wasn't too fast at climbing walls since it isn't used to being able to actually climb an object that could hold his weight. Landing on the branch with Becky before Marik climbed onto the branch after jumping off of his dragon too soon. They saw the ring in a bird's nest, but it seemed too easy before the sun seemed to be blocked out as the magpie that stole the ring was flying above the nest. As the magpie descended back to its nest it started to kick up a strong gust that knocked all three of them back sending them to the middle of the branch they are on. "This isn't going to be easy since we're this tiny." Stein was quickly looking around them for any possible idea that's when he noticed there was a lot of water on several of the nearby leaves which made him smirk. "Marik I've got a crazy idea if you're willing to try it. I'll distract the bird with one of my test subjects while you and Becky get the ring out of here." He said as he summoned Devastator in front of himself.

"Devastator go full force on that bird." With its master's order the crustation leviathan began to gather up the nearby water into a ball. With the ball of pressurized water Devastator launched it at the magpie smacking it in the face, but due to it being reduced in size it didn't do much damage to it instead it mostly pissed it off. While that was happening Spike made it up to the branch and was climbing underneath it in order to do a surprise attack. The magpie started to flap its wings rapidly to try blowing them away, but it didn't do much to Devastator unfortunately for Stein on the other hand he was almost blown off of the branch. Creating a set of handle in the tree branch he was able to climb back up. Noticing Spike starting to climb up he had smirk on his face about what is to come next. "Devastator go in and attack it." With its master's order the crustation leviathan ran at the magpie as Spike climbed into the nest and was going to pin the magpie to allow Devastator to hit the bird. Stein summoned Shocker in the nest as well in order to make things even more difficult for the magpie.

As the battle began between the three test subjects and the magpie Stein couldn't help but do his mad scientist laugh as his creations started to put the bird on edge. "End that bird already you three." With their master's order both Spike and Shocker nailed the bird with their webs pinning it it the branch that suddenly started to snap as he saw Marik grabbing onto it causing too much strain on it. Unsummoning both Shocker and Devastator Stein quickly moved to the other side of the branch with Spike doing the same, but from below. The mad scientist watched as the branch fell with the magpie still attached to it, due to the added weight of the bird on the branch it moved mid fall so the bird is getting smacked against the ground with a loud thud. "Spike time for us to go." Stein said as his pet moved into position so it can climb down the tree with its master aboard it. Meeting Marik on the ground the mad scientist snapped his fingers causing Spike to walk over to the still alive magpie and proceed to stab it in the face with all four of its stingers then moved back to its master's side. "Time for us to go back to our actual size." He said to Marik as he felt good about getting some rather important field data.
