Kite is from a small town up north, he lives with his Father and Grandparents. One night his town was attacked by a small and unregistered mercenary guild that hated and feared magic users. During the raid on his whole town was eradicated except for Kite. After the raid was finished a group of people stumbled upon the orphaned Kite, they decided that they had to finish the job which was to destroy all magic from that town. A young couple felt compassion for the infant and decided that instead of killing him it would be nice for them to have and raise a child as one of their own and they sure enough came to love the boy.
At the age of 5 Kite’s foster parents began to teach the him how to fight and began to have young Kite go through physical conditioning in order to suppress any potential magical energy that he could possibly have. They truly cared for the boy and didn’t want any harm to come to him. During his early training days, his parents use to tell him how all wizards are blemishes in Earthland and must be exterminated. Along with these stories the topic of wizards with unimaginable power and those wizards were known as Slayers. After hearing about these powerful slayers, secretly Kite became fascinated by the stories. He then started to have this secret desire to learn that magic and become a slayer.
Several years had passed by since he had first heard the tale of the Dragon slayers and his desire to learn about their magic had grown to the point to where it could have been considered obsessed. At the age of ten, he had matured with his parent’s constant training and education. Secretly their attempts to brain wash him into hating wizards and magic as much as them had indeed failed seeing as he wanted to learn about any magic he could find. He would volunteer to travel with them so that he could learn how they deal with wizards or so he would tell them. He would then sneak off to do his own research on how to use magic, magical items, and even learned about guilds, one that had appealed to him the most was a guild known as Fairy Tail.
One day during one of their raids Kite snuck off to go do more research. Unknown to his foster parents, Kite had discovered that he has magical powers. He was able to light energy to an extent. To better understand what was going on with himself, he would sneak off in the middle of the night to secretly practice until he gets better control.
One night, a close friend of Kite follows him hoping to play but to his friends surprise he sees Kite using his light magic. The boy quickly ran back to town to tell the rest of the residents. Upon returning to the town Kite was confronted by his parents with the other members of their group, they asked Kite if he had been using magic. Immediately Kite knew that he would be killed if he were to stay at home any longer, he decided to escape. The people of the town were relentless with their pursuit of him including his "parents". Kite managed to conjure up some magic and was able to distract them with it so that he could scale the walls of a nearby building and jump roof top to roof top towards his freedom.
Several years later thirteen-year-old Kite has found refuge at a church, which had also acted as a small orphanage. He was happy being there because his fellow orphans enjoyed watching him use and practice his magic. However this time of peace was short lived because his former foster parents had soon came looking for him. He was on his way back from an errand. The owner of the orphanage had sent Kite out to the market to get groceries for the orphanage but was stopped by his parents much to his dismay. Before his parents could state their business there he automatically refused to go back no matter what. His parents weren’t there to take him back it had turned out they had been kicked out due to the embarrassment of having a mage living in their “sacred” town. They were told that in order to return to the town they had to kill their son.
As his father began to attack Kite, he started to divulge information about his past life before they had found Kite. That his father was a wizard and that they had killed him and took Kite to be their own. Enraged Kite then fired his magic at his foster father, which had completely incapacitated his father. His mother had kept her distance because she did not want to directly hurt her son, but upon seeing her love fall to the ground she started to approach him with the intent on attacking her foster son. He then told her to stop for he didn't want to hurt his mother began to charge so out of self defense he had to strike her with his magic leaving her out cold on the ground.
He soon left the orphanage not wanting to constantly put the residence there in danger and started on a journey to find a guild in which he could become a part of and still continued to dream about the day he finds himself a way to learn Slayer magic. Which had led him to many towns which had been destroyed or abandoned. Unaware that during these scavenger hunts for supplies, he had stumbled upon his old house and during his searched for supplies he discovered what appeared an old hut. He went in and looked around until he found a book laying on the ground in front of a book shelf and when Kite put the book back which caused the mechanism behind the shelf to slide to the side revealing a set of stairs that would lead him down to a secret room, almost like a library of sorts with a book on the desk. Kite walked up to the desk to look at the book and noticed the title of the book was written in a language he didn't understand. However when he attempted to open it, it wouldn't open. This puzzled him and so he took it with him carrying it outside where he exposed it to the sun like. It was then the book opened on it's own and a voice stemmed from it " He who has opened the book of the demon king what is it you wish, speak it and I shall grant it under the condition that you free me from this prison. Kite could only think of one thing. " Teach me magic, a magic so I can fight against those who would hurt others and invoke justice where needed". The demon chuckled " This could be fun" he said as he reach out of the book and pulled Kite into the portal that was the book and it was then his training to be a mage would begin.
