Job Description: The Rune Knights need experienced people to help train the sudden rush of recruits. They are stupid, green and with barely the basic understanding of magic itself with quite a few of them being very gungho. It is up to you to decide how to train these bunch of misfits into a semi decent fighting force that will fight to defend their country.
Reward: 500 Jewels
Shuhei sighed as he approached the barracks. "Honestly why couldn't someone else do this? Zack isn't doing anything! Sure he just finished a 100 year job, but that just means he's available!" Another sigh escaped him as he entered the building. His eyes wandered upon entering, taking in the scenery that was very militaristic. Wood floors, solid white paint on the walls, no style whatsoever. He approached the front desk, at which a Rune Knight was sitting, resting his head on his palm while writing a few things down on a piece of paper. "State your purpose..." He said without even looking up at Shuhei, who raised an eyebrow. He removed a rolled up paper from his robe, unrolled it and placed it on the desk in front of the Rune Knight, and gently slid it over the paper on which he was writing, prompting him to look upon the White Wizard. "Shu- Shu- uhh." Immediately he stood up from his seat and saluted him. "It's an honor, Saint Shuhei! Please, follow me sir!"
While suddenly breaking out in to a sweat, the Rune Knight lead Shuhei down a series of hallways. Long, boring hallways that all looked exactly the same. "Right this way sir!" The Rune Knight shouted as he lead Shuhei to a large door, which he promptly opened letting in the light of the outdoors. Through the door, they came upon a large training field where a couple dozen Rune Knights stood in formation holding their rune staffs, waiting for their teachers instructions. The Rune Knight who lead Shuhei to the field stood by the door and allowed Shuhei to approach the batch of young recruits. An older Rune Knight approached Shuhei, obviously some sort of drill sergeant assigned to assist Shuhei with his teaching. He saluted Shuhei. "Sir! Thank you for accepting our request. It's an honor to have you." Shuhei crossed his arms and smiled. "Thank you, lets get started shall we?" The Rune Knight saluted Shuhei. "Yes Sir!"
The Sergeant turned to the regiment of recruits. "Listen up you sorry bunch of yellow bellied maggots! You sorry bunch of rodents have the honor of being trained by Shuhei, the number one Wizard Saint! You ugly batch of flea bitten dogs may never have a teacher like this again, so pay attention! You bunch of rotten, lazy pieces of cockroach excrement!" Shuhei's expression remained somewhat blank during his introduction. "Well that was a nice introduction..." The Rune Knight turned to Shuhei again. "They're all yours sir!" Shuhei scratched the back of his head and chuckled a bit. "Thanks, I guess."
Shuhei glared at the regiment of recruits. He hadn't actually thought of any form of a lesson plan. In fact he had no sweet clue about what he was going to do. "Well... Good morning." He started, unsure of what to say next. Could he really make everything up as he went along? "Today we'll be working on..." On what? What Shuhei? What are you going to teach them? "Shut up!" An awkward silence ensued. "Uhm, today..." A bead of sweat began to roll down the side of his forehead. He couldn't embarrass himself in front of all of these Rune Knights. So after a moment of pondering, finally he thought of something that could actually work! "We'll be working on defense training!" Defense is easy he thought. "There will most certainly be a time in your career where there is a single, vicious threat greater than any one of you, and you will have to work together in order to overcome it." Speaking somewhat out of experience, Shuhei was mostly just making stuff up as he went along. "For today, I will be acting as that single threat and you will all have to overcome me!" Shuhei smiled as the Rune Knights began to look at each other awkwardly. "Ready!? Good!"
Immediately Shuhei charged the group of Rune Knights, startling the few that he ran towards. "Don't flinch! hold formation!" He shouted as he leaped in to the air flying directly over the heads of several Rune Knights and landed right in the center of their formation. "Don't hesitate, or you'll be swiftly eliminated!" Quickly, Shuhei crouched down and swept his leg in a full circle, tripping several of the Rune Knights. Several Rune Knights around Shuhei that were lucky enough not to fall on their butts, aimed their staffs at the White Wizard and charged up a stun blast. Though just before they fired, Shuhei leaped in to the air again allowing the Rune Knights to shoot each other, causing several more to fall to the ground stunned out of their wits. "I forgot to mention that communication is crucial." Shuhei landed in another cluster of Rune Knights that quickly took action. Swinging their staffs at him that would stun him upon contact. Easily Shuhei danced around the strikes and with several quick chops to the Rune Knights necks and sides the regiment was defeated. "So... What did you learn?" The sergeant applauded, as the White Wizards lesson came to a swift end.
