Personality

Avant is the generally amiable personality, with a great sense for humor and aesthetics to boot- but make sure not to trigger her other temperament! Around people she doesn't know, she acts likable and charming, but around guild-members, her slightly rougher side appears, along with her sometimes-ahem... crude sense of humor. Her other temperament appears when things get too complex, and this has been described by guild mates as "Army general-like" and "Demon-like". Despite this, she is well liked in the Guild.
In battle, Avant's likable and charming side disappears, and she goes into full-blown fight-mode. The serious side to her comes out, and she wields her brushes and ink, creating images on the ground that spring to life and fight for her. She's also skilled in hand-to-hand combat, a skill that comes handy when her combatant gets too close for comfort. In extreme fights, her demon-like personality comes out, and nothing will stop her except for complete defeat of the enemy.
Under leadership, Avant isn't afraid to speak her opinion but will cooperate to the best of her ability. However, as a leader, she expects that her orders will be followed precisely, and she has no difficulty bonding with her team or getting them to work together.

Likes:

• Manga Art: She particularly likes action and psychological manga, though she won’t object to some romance. She loves mangas with elaborate art, and practices to draw like the artists.
  
• Medical Science: When not drawing, Avant will be easily found in the local library perusing tomes of medical illustration. This interest branched from a manga she read once that involved a medical practitioner.
  
• Humor: Avant has a great sense of humor, even in the midst of troubling times.
  
• Simplicity: This applies to everything but her art.(See Dislikes: Complexity for more information.)
• Strength: Avant highly respects those with strength, physical or mental. She strives to create the same kinds of strength within herself, whether it be through training or just plain experience.
• Respect: She respects others and expects to be respected herself. Respect, in Avant's view, is a fundamental part of human interaction, and so she acts accordingly.
• Friends: Probably a given, since they're "friends".

Dislikes:

• Complexity: Avant dislikes anything complex in anything other than Art. Her self-rated “Extremely Complex Situations” include fights over romance, fights over food and/or guild fights in general. Under any “Extremely Complex Situation”, Avant may buckle and revert to her less... likable persona.(See Personality for details)
• Annoying People: Some people just poke fun at Avant, and that she can tolerate. However, it's those people who stab fun at Avant and just do annoying things in general that make her list of pet peeves.
• Enemies: Also probably a given, since they're "enemies".
  

Motivations:

• Friends: Avant believes the best thing you can do is to fight alongside friends or for the sake of friends. She highly values her friends, and as such wishes to protect them in any possible way.
• Self-improvement: In order to protect others and herself, Avant trains regularly in both battle skills and artistic skills, both of which coincide.
• Expectations Not just expectations from others, but also from herself. She tries to live up to the level people see fit, and when she doesn't succeed, she may resort to drastic measures.

Fears:

• Carcinophobia: The fear of Cancer. Avant's seen the medical diagrams, and Cancer's some nasty stuff. When faced with this fear, she'll begin to sink into a temporary depression, peppered with bouts of hysteria.
• Cheimaphobia: The fear of cold. She just can't stand it. If in cold weather without outerwear, Avant will crouch into a ball and shake quietly to herself, until she's brought to a warm room or is given outerwear.
• Misplaced Ink splatters: Not only do they ruin artwork, they also cause unexpected effects when in battle, and dealing with those effects is often taxing to Avant.
  

General Appearance

Height: 160cm (5’2”)
Weight: 105lb (47.6kg)
Hair: Jet black hair with left-parted bangs held back with a small pin (See Special Characteristics), side bangs that reach her cheeks and hair reaching the middle of her shoulder blades. Her hair is often tied back with a thin red band to get it out of the way.
Eyes: Dark, dark brown.
Skin Tone: Pale and warm-tinted. A sort of ivory color.

Appearance: Avant is a medium-height girl, standing at 5 foot 2 inches, though she'd like to get a little taller. Sometimes, she also wishes her hair weren't so drab, but after visiting the local salon and seeing the many hair faux pases walking out of it, she decided not to take any chances. She's since decided to keep her hair as is, with the elaborate hair pin decorating it. Her face is relatively chubby (the cheek region in particular), with medium-width lips and a small nose. Wide eyes with round, round, pupils adorn her face, neither too far apart or too close together.
A simple white scoop-neck tunic with medium length puffed sleeves, a thick, sturdy turquoise belt, charcoal colored leggings and long necklaces complete Avant's day-to-day look. In battle mode, her belt is replaced with a tool belt- for brushes, specifically. After all, she does use pict magic. The necklaces are also replaced with upper body armor, made from tough calf leather. With both outfits, Avant wears a trusty pair of canvas shoes that are surprisingly durable. This is due to her insulating the inside with a thin layer of rubber and a layer of waterproof material on top.
In the winter, she wears a large coat that reaches her shins, lots and lots of warm layers, and thick leather boots for fear of cold.
