    'Here you go missy'

At that same moment a small plate with a roughly cut bread on it, was being shoved onto the table. And upon the sight of what this tavern dared to called lunch, Karen couldn't help but to look contemplated at the man serving her food. But upon seeing the man Karen's appetite dwindled even more so.
'Don't be picky now, it might not look like it. But it's good enough to eat'

The man itself was clearly overweight, and carried a rather greasy scent all around him. His skin that almost glistened from the sweat that apparently did nothing else then pour continuously out of his veins the entire day.
'It's not the food I am picky about' responded Karen bluntly, but unlike she wanted she didn't get a rise out of the man at all. In fact he looked so much unbothered by her sarcastic remark that Karen actually doubted if the man even understood he was being insulted. Realizing this Karen let out a huge sigh and threw a poorly filled purse towards the man. 'Just bring me some wine'

A smile appeared on the man's face as he heard the tinkling sounds of jewels coming from out the purse, and immediately scuffled away. Unknowingly that purse and it's contents had an entirely different owner just a few hours before. Namely an unknown middle aged couple, who were traveling per cart to a new life. However that journey came to an abrupt end when they encountered Karen on the middle of the road, who without even thinking twice about it created a fire explosion right in front of the cart. Immediately burning the ox that was pulling the cart, along with the steersman to a smoldering crisp.
The blast itself pushed the remainders of the cart of it's tracks, enough so that it flipped sidewards while the man's possessions scattered all across the road. Along with another human being, a woman. Someone was supposed to be pretty for her age, if it wasn't for the blistering black skin that currently ruined her face.

Hearing her still grasping for air Karen decided to end the woman's life first. Since she didn't saw the need for her to suffer in pain when Karen was only sitting here to rob the very first human being that she came across. No that just wasn't right in her book, she shouldn't let people suffer for something so disrespectful as stooping so low as a common bandit.

Karen made her way to the rubble of her small mayhem, and eventually found the woman laying on the ground. She didn't move at all, and she didn't seem to scream. But she was in shock, that Karen was sure of. Since the woman's eyes were looked around chaotically, probably unable to comprehend what just happened.
Without further delay Karen put the heel of her boot against the woman's neck, and with a rough notch she heard a snapping sound of the bones that were being dislocated from each other.
Luckily for Karen her search for money ended there as well, as she saw a small brownish purse laying next to the woman.

Her thoughts on what she had done was being disturbed when the fat owner from the tavern brought her a dented iron carafe filled with wine. And once again the sight of what the man placed on the table before her was not very appealing. The dents in the carafe and cup were so big that you barely pour the wine out normally.
'Great, you even manage to make wine distasteful...'
Yet the man had already scuffled away, unable to hear the remark Karen just made. With another sigh Karen started to pour the wine in an equally dented cup. Only so that she could wash away the stale taste of the bread.

Post by Tuna 8th September 2014, 10:36 am

It had been a bright and relaxing day on which Lyserg had decided to take the journey to Mountain Village, just to visit an acquaintance he had made in the past 2 years under a false identity. The woman he was visiting had her residency at one of the highest points of the village and was an incredibly talented intellectual who had a soft side for magical sciences and research in inter-dimensional access and planes-walking. Lyserg, who actually enjoyed the lady's company because of her well-mannered and intelligeble behavior, had taken the ride in a regular disguise with a horse to shorten the way. From Fat Monsterland's center all the way to Mountain Village was a half day's travel by foot, but appreciating nature whilst underway was a nice method to allow himself to get lost in thought.

Lyserg was in his usual cloak without armor but normal wear, but his hair and beard were grown out heavily and made for an elderly image. It was unlikely that anyone who knew him would be able to recognize him like this. He made for an overall frizzy image that seemed like a homeless traveler rather than an established guildmaster. Whatever the case, his day was ruined and he was pulled out of thought when he came across a gruesome scene. A carriage had broken down the wayside and into the forest below. It was weird, had they been transporting gunpowder and someone accidentally made a fire that caused it to explode? No, Lyserg knew there was a much simpler explanation when he noticed the lingering smell of fire that was accompanied by a distinct sense he knew all too well. Magic. This wasn't a natural accident. Someone had come across these two and killed them. How pitiful.

    How Lyserg's face currently looks:

Not bothering, Lyserg made his way dismissing what he had just seen as the work of filthy robbers that had nothing better to do than to abuse the weaker with their small amounts of power. He was able to not think about the happening by the time he arrived. Making his way through the small village that only had one main road and some smaller ones that lead to housing, he bound his horse at a water tray specifically for horses outside of the small inn that knew him under his current identity all too well. Walking past the one blemish of this quiet town, the small diner who's owner was one of the lowest humans he could think of, he managed to peak through the windows and his sight fell upon someone who was clearly not of this place. A red-haired, adolescent women in full gear. He furrowed his eyebrows and the train of thought had already left its station.

Looking past the main road up to the house in which his acquaintance lived he decided that there was enough time to investigate. He had only once dared to enter the business called "Hungry Falcon". The stench when entering was already unbearable. He wondered how this man was able to keep the inn when nobody in this village really wanted him to be here. It wasn't his business though. He was only interested in the person sitting at a table drinking wine out of a dented cup. Stepping through the door, his cloak swayed with his movements and he scruffed his beard and hair. He audibly cleared his throat and the fat slob of a human limped over to him with a wide grin. "Aahhhh, clientage!" He heard him say in a rough and drooling voice.

"Yes, clientage." Lyserg answered in a low voice. The fat slob waved around to signify that it was nearly completely empty if it weren't for the red-haired girl sitting amidst the diner. "I will take my seat. Bring me what she was having." He said glaring at the girl, undistracted by his surroundings and not regarding the man any further. Walking over to take a seat right across from the traveller he faced her and gazed directly into her eyes with a calm demeanour watching her drink. "Yes, yes! Right away, sir!" He heard the man say as he scuffled back into the kitchen. Watching the young woman sit there opposite from him, Lyserg decided to put off his cloak and hang it over a chair next to him. Leaning back, he folded his arms on his chest and waited for the youngster to make a move. He was sure this provocation didn't go unnoticed.

Karen's cold demeanor didn't flinch for even a second, when the old man bluntly decided to take place in the seat right across from her. Instead she decided to answer the man's rather intense glare with a curious gaze. While in her head she started to put a story together on who this man could be.
Deciding from his outer appearance alone, Karen could come to only one conclusion. That this guy was some local senile fool, or that this was nothing more then a down on his luck vagabond whose solitude had made him socially awkward.

Karen still didn't know on what to do with the recently gained company, should she intimidate him and force the guy to leave, so that she once again could sit here alone. Or should she just let him sit there, glaring at her continuously while she continued swallowing down the food. Or she could always humor the man and say something to him, it was clear that he wanted some kind of attention from her.

'I suggest not eating what I am having old-timer' Karen eventually said 'The food itself might get you sick'

Lyserg took his gaze off of the young girl for a second to make sure that no one was around. The owner of this place was off in the kitchen fixing some bad bread and expired wine and would likely not hear him. Nobody ever dared enter this place or even pay the slightest bit of attention to it, so guests in a blind spot or another room were out of the question. He then leaned forward and rested his forearms on the table.

"You know miss... I don't like beating around the bush. But I will go along with your little innocent charade for now." He said looking back into her eyes through his curling frizzy hair falling down onto his forehead. "May I ask... where you earned the money you are buying this meal with?" He said sharply. The woman before him probably didn't suspect anything just yet. It wasn't such a weird question for someone of his appearance to ask where she got money from, looking like a pennyless vagabond herself.

Lyserg's gaze didn't lift or ease up at this point. On the contrary, it even got stronger and filled up with a sort of judging force that pushed against her. "Do you think this food could make me sick?" He added, finally trying to manifest his role as the senile old traveller coming across this town. He had shrumpled down his tone to that of someone who doesn't speak very often, yet his wording and articulation were slightly off for someone of his standing. Something, he dared to let the girl notice if she was sharp enough. Although, he wouldn't bet on her registering such a thing.

Karen's jaw dropped open, giving her a rather confused look. While in her mind she could only ask herself, if she actually heard the man correctly.

In an instant the the man, whom Karen presumably disregarded as nothing more then some senile old fool had dropped the entire vagabond flair around him, and said something that threw Karen entirely off her game. The man managed to look straight through her care-free act and could see her for whom she really was.

In a fast and rough manner Karen stood immediately up from her seat, throwing the crooked chair of it's poor balance and make it fall to the ground. Her hands were made into fists and engulfed themselves in orange flames as she took a defensive stance.
Something in that man's voice just now, made her jump up. Scared maybe even, not because he amusingly already knew where she got the money from. But the fact that she couldn't place the guy, where did that sharp mind come from? Why is it that she couldn't feel any magic power flowing from him and yet got scared of him anyway.

    'Who.. who are you?'

Lyserg squinted. It was sudden, the jump had even caught him off guard. Readying himself for a potential attack he started to trace her body. Immediately calming down again, he listened to the crackling fire of her fists. She wasn't going to attack. She seemed more like a scared animal. A strong animal, but an animal. There wasn't any killing intent stemming from him. She reacted on a notion of her feelings, on an impulse. There was no reason to act like she was. As such, Lyserg wasn't afraid of an attack.

'Who.. who are you?' She said with a flaring voice. A fierce image in front of him. Imposing, but Lyserg was at ease. It required potential to be able to have such a present instinct. He was now interested in the girl. Stroking his beard a bit, he leaned back in the chair and looked at her. "You are quick. But you can calm down, I don't want to hurt you. It was... for the most part, an honest question." He said in a calm tone, swaying his stroking hand while he was talking.

As the owner proceeded to come in, he loosely and unsincerely hammered some bread down onto Lyserg's table, stomping down a jar of wine as well and going on to shove some cut meat next to the bread. Without saying anything, looking at Lyserg or even noticing the girl that was apparently on fire right now, he left again. It required either an extremely keen tunnel view or extreme mental laziness to just not care what was happening in your shop. But Lyserg didn't mind. He hadn't lifted his gaze from the girl for one second.

"Sit back down and relax. I am just here to talk to you." Lyserg said motioning loosely signifying he really wasn't aggressive or violent. He had an ever calm, but sharp and authorative aura around him at this point. Starting to take some of the meat and bread and gently moving it into his mouth, he spoke to her. "Are you Fioran?" He asked in a curious manner. "You don't exactly look like any specific nationality, and Fiore has the greatest racial diversity in all of Earthland. So I would really like to know."

Not knowing what else to do in this situation Karen immediately but careful, reached for the chair she had just pushed over. The flames around her fists dwindled into nothingness as he let her arms hang besides her. She didn't really knew why she listed to him, but somewhere in his suggestive tone laid a underlining power of authority. A will that would not break easily, and expected to be listened to when asked. It didn't show, but subconsciously it reached Karen making her acknowledge the man.

'I..I am Fioran' Karen eventually replied when she had taken a seat once again 'However I've spent most of my young adult life in Bosco..' Her voice had a certain caution in it, making it more then obvious that she choose her words carefully only so that she wouldn't reveal certain details and aspect of her former life. Which wasn't so rare, not many people would take to kindly to a girl who made her living by killing others. Especially when it was for the entertainment of other people.

'What about you?' she eventually asked a bit blunt. 'Are you from around these parts?'

Lyserg had to snicker a bit. The answer to the girl's question was far from simple, and the time he would need to expend to give her a fully coherent response was likely longer than she would live. So instead, Lyserg just snickered and shook his head. His beard and hair shook as he spoke. The frizzy curls made subtle noises, as if they were really there. Little did she know that under the jungle there lied someone quite contrasting to the appearance he currently had.

"I am not... from here. Not these parts, and not any other parts. You are asking the wrong question if you want to find out where I am from. But to follow up as to why I am here..." Lyserg paused for a moment. He took a gigantic gulp of the wine, letting excess liquid trickle down his facial hair as if he had the unquenchable thirst of a penniless traveler.

"I am here because I am visiting a very old friend of mine." He spoke as he sat down the glass with a silent thump. "But just now, I have obtained a secondary goal." He said cryptically with the intention to confuse the young woman across his table. "Tell me, what are you doing here around this mountainrange other than robbing and murdering bypassers?" After he finished, he took a piece of bread with his right hand, pounding the fingers his left on the table in a rythmic manner, and bit into the stone-hard, likely age-old pastry.

Karen looked a bit dumbfounded upon hearing the first part the man's answer, it was a rather cryptic one. And something she failed to comprehend, not because she was lacked the intellect. No not at all, she could be quite sharp if she wants to be, she was molded through countless battles and survival. So she was far from dumb, it was just intellect was focussed on something else. It was very self involved actually, only looking out for herself and her alone. So when something would suggest that there was something more to them then meets the eye, Karen would often not really understand why. The perfect example of this was off course Lyserg, whom to other with a more focussed mind easily could see through the man's ruse. While in Karen's eyes she saw nothing more then an old vagabond.

In fact you even could call her dense in situations like this, which was proven by the fact that she would engage in the daily chit chat she and the man were conducting. Well not so much daily, since it's contents were about murdering and pillaging for some part. But daily as daily could get for her.

'Ehm.. well I don't know to be honest' replied Karen, with a rather bored tone 'I am just traveling around you know. Not because I want to see the world or anything, I just am... wandering I guess. Hoping to get something on my path again, may it be bad or good...'

"You don't know?" Lyserg asked with an interested hint to his tone. Tilting his head, he was searching for her focus, and her attention. "What does that mean? Have you not thought about it properly or are you suffering from amnesia? How can you not know why you are here?" He repeated his question. To him, there was something he wanted to find about. He couldn't properly read the girl, and it was weird to him. It was not because she was hiding, but because there was only a bleak surface he was able to look at. Simple, and unresponsive to his usual pinpoints around which he was able to assess people.

"If there is one thing you should know in this world, one thing I would advise you to be sure of, aware of, it would be to always know where you are. Where you stand, how you got there, what your reasons behind being there are. Knowing the relation between you and your surroundings is the only real thing you should always be aware of." He explained, sounding like an old monk trying to spread wisdom. But there was just some spark of inspiration he received from this woman. And those sparks were incredibly rare. Not something he wanted to lose, or a hinch that had ever betrayed him. She was exactly what she appeared as, whatever that was. Not a wanderer, not a regular girl. Not a fire mage. She seemed so empty. Ready to be flooded with anything someone would throw at her. He was not just going to let this opportunity go.

He sighed, not entirely sure how to go about this. Because apparently, elaborate schemes were misplaced. She was not a great thinker, nor someone to react calculated to anything he would throw at her. So what to do? Lyserg would simply take a risk. Leaning back, he gazed her in the eyes, and dropped his disguise. In front of the girl, the old man was no more. Whilst others would still perceive his disguise as what it was before. The crimson-haired girl would not. In front of her eyes, he had simply changed in the blink of an eye. As if there was a gap in her mind, he was suddenly an entirely different person. Furrowing his eyebrows, he gambled that she would not be intimated, but rather interested in that fact. "This... is how I usually look." He said charmingly with a slight grin on his face. "And I propose a deal between the two of us. One that will benefit both of us greatly."
