Get Rid Of That Pesky Blockade || Yvette & Mathurin

The sound of a bird tapping on her window woke her up, startling her as her long eyelashes fluttered open to see the dim sunlight shining down on her face. Grumbling, she glared at the bird for waking her up from her deep slumber angrily. But still, she felt elated that the sunlight could actually made it’s way through the deepest part of the forest in which Savage Skull was located. Pushing the blankets off her body revealed a tiny girl who was no other than Yvette Alvarez. She took a glance at the clock to make sure she hadn’t gotten up late once again. Sliding into her pink mini dress, Yvette wore a rabbit hoodie over it to keep herself warm from the winter cold.

Her slim legs easily slipped into her long boots before she tied up the laces into tight knots. Yvette let a small bounce against the floor just to ensure that the boots fit perfectly. And so, she strutted out of her room and entered the guildhall to pick a mission she could do today. Some jobs are exhausting but at least it is still better than chilling in her room, doing nothing and literally just wasting time. What she needed to become was a strong mage. Her pale finger ran across the mission papers as she searched for the right one that attracted her attention the most. Get Rid Of That Pesky Blockade, it says. A mischievous grin tugged onto her lips after she figured out that she would have to do some killing.

”Alright, I’m up for this one!”
Yvette raised up her hand into the air excitedly. Her voice echoed around the empty walls of the guildhall. She was certain that there was no one hanging around in the guildhall until a man appeared beside her. Yvette let out a small shriek, obviously startled by the sudden appearance and the job paper slipped out of her hand effortlessly onto the floor. Staring at the man who stood in front of her, Yvette remained motionless and continued to gawk at him as if he was some alien. Indeed, she had never seen him before around the guild since she just recently started a new life in a new guild. Speaking of which, she hadn’t met most of the people from Savage Skull. Not that it actually mattered, but it would be best if she introduce herself so the others wouldn’t think she was no one but a mere stranger.

”Erm. I didn’t know you were here. I’m Yvette. Nice to meet you.”
Yvette waved a hand at him and smiled at him, her voice all cheery. She had never met a guild mate in the hall before since it was usually so silent that it almost made her wonder if there are anyone alive in the guild. Bending over, she picked up the paper that had dropped accidentally and returned her gaze back to him. ”Are you looking for jobs as well? I’ve got one thought, Get Rid Of The Pesky Blockade.”

It appeared that Yvette had sorta startled him by her shriek because he was staring at her as if she was some kind of alien. Or did she say something wrong? Yvette ruffled the back of her head nervously and gave him a cheeky smile. To her surprise, Yvette received a smile back in return, making her stop dead in her tracks. It was rare to receive a smile even from someone from this guild.
Oh, so he’s Mathurin.
Yvette nodded as he introduced himself and mentioned that he met their guild master, Harrigan. Speaking of which, she had never even met Harrigan before, let alone having a nice chat. Yvette folded the paper in her hands awkwardly and stared at the ground as if it was the most interesting thing she had ever found.

Yvette raised an eyebrow at Math at the mention of the name of the job she was just about to do. ”Oh? Well, of course I don’t mind going on a job together with you. In fact, it’d be lovely to have a partner.”
Yvette smiled and stuffed the paper into pocket of her dress while a little cute fox emerged, catching her attention.
”Is that your pet? It’s really cute, haha.” Bending down slightly, Yvette ruffled the fur of the fox before shifting her gaze back to Math. ”Alright, so shall we go?” With her index finger, Yvette wrapped the end of her twin tail on her index finger and played with it as if she was a little child. Wondering why the vulcans had disturbed the train tracks, Yvette pushed her slender legs forward as she walked out of the guild, lost in her own thoughts to defeat the vulcans that were pestering the innocent mortals.

There was a tickling sensation around her feet causing Yvette to let out a soft yelp followed by a giggle. Yvette was a very ticklish person who couldn’t even stand if someone hugged her from her waist. Yeah! I love meat as well! I eat all kinds of food, haha,” Smiling at Aimi’s enthusiastic questions, Yvette glanced over at Math and spoke, ”You really have a cute and bubbly pet.”
It seemed like the rustling of the leaves, the sound of the branches cracking underneath and the hustling of the wind were the only sounds that could be heard around them. The three of them were probably the only ones that were trudging through the forest, apart from the mysterious animals that were lurking in the deeper parts of the forest. Fortunately, after a few days of getting lost in the forest, Yvette finally understood the paths of the place and had no trouble going around anymore.

It was really dark below the towering trees, as if the day had suddenly turned to night. Yvette walked side by side of Mathurin, her big orbs glancing around the forest every now and then. A speck of light caught her attention as she shifted her eyes back to the source that had drawn her.
Oh, there it is.
The exit of this incredible maze.
They walked closer and closer until the light grew larger and finally enveloped around the three of them, introducing them to a familiar but a new place. The light blinded her eyes as Yvette instinctively shield herself from the light, trying to get accustomed to the sunlight. Squinting, she wondered where she was before a nostalgia hit her that she had finally escaped from the forest. Yvette placed her hands on her hips, looking around the majestic town before she started to head for her destination.
”Leggo leggo, before we arrive late~” Yvette skipped along her way energetically as she motioned for her fellow partners to follow her.
