The Hunter Becomes the Hunted

Kodai was walking around Rose Garden, enjoying the crisp, cool air of the early evening. This was his favorite time of day, when the sun started to set. In a way, it reflected his mental state. As he got older and stronger, he grew colder, more accustomed to killing without second thoughts, and his soul was, like the sun, slowly being plunged into darkness. Kodai was traveling down this path of dark thoughts when, all of a sudden, he caught the faint scent of lilacs and heard the jingling of bells. Along with the lilac scent, he smelled an undertone of animal. Like a... panther. No, a rabbit. Intrigued by this odd combination of odors, Kodai snapped himself from his thoughts and began tracking the scents through the busy streets. After a few minutes, he found himself mere feet away from a... thing. It.. er, she, it appeared to be, seemed to be a strange combination of cat, rabbit and woman, and was also fully nude. The... woman, he decided to call it, was watching a display of Spark Magic from a streetside entertainer mage. Kodai's hunter instincts kicked in, and he stepped back, easily melding with the shadows.

Kodai followed the girl into the bar, waiting near the door. He saw her blow the bartender a kiss, then snap her fingers. Kodai detected a hint of lilacs and forget-me-nots in the air, then saw the bartender become a bit dazed. "A bottle of rum and a shot glass please. On the house of course." he heard her say, and the bartender complied. Kodai snorted in disgust. 'Scent Magic, or something similar. And she's using it to pick up free drinks. That's not right.' he thought. He decided to do something about it, so he walked up to the bar and sat right next to the girl. "A bottle of whiskey, please, and a shot glass." he said, putting down some money. The bartender, still a bit dazed from the woman's spell, forgot to take the money when he put down the ordered beverage. Kodai sighed, then turned to the woman. "My name's Kodai. Kodai Venator, Ancient Huntsman of the Rune Knights. Might I ask your name, pretty one?" he said to her.

Kodai grinned as he took a shot of whiskey. He could tell she was lying when she talked about not caring about guilds. The way she sighed, and said the word whatever. She was a little bitter about it. Perhaps he could get her to become a Rune Knight... she'd be a good interrogator, not to mention good at crowd control. He grinned more at her compliment, then said "Well, I came in to drink some whiskey. Is that a bad thing?" jokingly.

"Whiskey is much better. It's smooth, but it feels like fire going down. It really gets you going." Kodai said as he took another drink of whiskey. He noticed that Aigou had stopped drinking. He smirked inwardly. 'She can't handle her alcohol very well.' he thought, taking another drink. When his bottle was empty, he turned to Aigou, pretending to be drunk. "How about we go somewhere more private, babe?" he asked, adding a bit of a slur to his voice.

At Aigous whispered assent, Kodai stood up from his stool, lurching as though drunk, and said "Let's go then. I know the perfect place." He grabbed her hand, squeezing more tightly than was necessary, then walked towards the door, still lurching a bit. Without making sure she was still with him, he hailed a cab. He leaned through the window and told the cabbie "Take us to the corner of Second Street and Main." When the cabbie nodded, Kodai walked to the door of the cab and held it open for his companion.

Aigou mewled a bit when he grabbed her hand, squeezing a bit hard for a delicate woman such as herself, smiling at his eagerness. That's all it was...right? It felt like she had said that before.. She followed close behind him, watching as he hailed a cab and told him their destination. She smiled as even drunk he showed chivalry and got into the cab, laying her tail across her lap and running we fingers through its fur.

Kodai grinned as Aigou laid her tail across his lap and joined her in stroking. it. Every once in a while, he would hiccup convincingly. He had to keep up the drunk act until they got to his house. Kodai had recently bought a house in Rose Garden, since it was his favorite place to vacation. It wasn't long until they arrived, as the bar wasn't far from his house. When the cab stopped, Kodai got out and held the door open for Aigou.

Kodai didn't react to his shirt being sliced open, save shivering slightly as the cool air washed over his skin. He held out his hand to Aigou, grinning slightly.
"Come on inside, babe. I've got something I want to show you." he said as the cab drove away. As he smiled at her, he thought "This is working out perfectly. She's falling for every lie I feed her."

Lilacs.Kodai smelled it again, right as Aigou was telling him that he would have sex with her. Her spell had no effect on him, however, as he was aware of it's existence.
"Of course I will, babe."Kodai said as he opened the door to his house, then lead her inside, smiling drunkenly. Once inside, his demeanor changed entirely. He tightened his grip on her hand and swung her around, slamming her up against the wall as the fake drunkenness and smile faded away. He pinned her to the wall with a carefully placed elbow to her sternum. He snapped the fingers of his free hand and, in a flash of light, a long hunting knife appeared in it. A quick spin had the point pricking the skin of her neck.
"Awareness is immunity, creature. I am wise to your tricks. And I do not like how you use you magic to get things for free. I believe it's wrong. So I'm stopping you." he said in a low voice.

Kodai narrowed his eyes at Aigou, unaffected by her roar. The only reaction her gave was to push the knife harder against her throat.
"I would suggest hushing, beast, or I will be hanging your skin on my wall by the end of tonight." he growled menacingly. "I saw how you used your magic to get a free drink at that bar. I'm ninety-nine percent sure that that is illegal. And if it's not, there's still the issue of, I don't like it. I think it's wrong. It's like stealing." he said lowly.

Kodai blinked as the smell of forget-me-nots filled the air. It seemed almost as the odor was flooding his mind, washing out his memories. Suddenly, he wondered why he was pinning a female... thing.. to the wall with a knife. He immediately dropped his hands and stored the knife in his pocket space, then bowed to the woman.
"I am incredibly sorry, ma'am. I have no recollection of how I came to be holding you against the wall, but I apologize for everything I may have done to you. I must have blacked out." he said, his voice almost monotone.
