Mice and Mage

Mathurin and Aimi walked around aimlessly as he finished eating his fried fish on a stick. Aimi looked eagerly towards his, however she had three already, and Mathurin wasn't about to sacrifice his lunch for her. She eventually would look ahead, after Mathurin threw the stick in a near by trash can."Ahh, de-ee-licious!" Mathurin said out loud as he rubbed his belly gently. That meal was well worth the trouble of "borrowing" from the merchant stand. Before long, the two snapped their necks to the left as a lady could be heard screaming at the top of her lungs," AHHHHHHHHHHHHH HELP! HELP! HEEEEEEEEELP!" Mathurin interested in the sounds and curious to the reasons, walked towards the house in question. Before he made it to the front yard, a woman came bursting out in her under garments. She was closely followed by 4 large rats, and her husband attempting to shoo them away with the broom. Once he got them outside, the rats simply ran right back passed him inside. The embarrassed couple stood outside for a few moments as passer by's watched."There ya go greedy...." Mathurin began to say towards Aimi as he motioned towards the house. "If your so hungry, how about you go hunt some of those rats?" Mathurin said laughing at Aimi, who looked absolutely appalled. She may have been a wild animal, but you couldn't tell her that. Mathurin made his way in the front yard to talk to the couple.

The couple seemed totally preoccupied with their embarrassment and shame, to even realize Mathurin and Aimi were slowly walking towards them."Hi folk, what seems to be the problem?Mathurin asked rhetorically as he could see perfectly well what the problem was. The dreadlocked mage was no fool, and he could smell a fine opportunity when it comes stumbling by. The looks of these people were not those of the rich and wealthy, however they did have enough to fatten Mathurin's pockets. The husband looked up from his embrace with his wife, and noticed Mathurin and Aimi. Instinctively the man knew he was a mage."Oh! Thank the heavens above! Your a mage from Fairy Tail, are you not sir?" The man asked slightly excited as his level of happiness began to rise. Mathurin simply smiled as he knew he already had the couple where he needed them."Ha ha ha, The name is Mathurin, and yes I am a mage... From fairy tail." Mathurin said proudly as he stuck his chest out slightly, which bore the hidden symbol of Savage Skull. The couple nearly danced for Joy upon hearing Mathurin was a mage."We were so sure that you had got lost, as we have not heard any news from you since you departed." The old man said quietly as he and his wife we much calmer than before. "ahhh...Well thats neither here, nor there. Let's talk price." Mathurin said simply smiling and changing the subject to one that he would prefer to discuss.

After a long discussion on the terms of the job, as well as price of course, The couple and Mathurin separated, as they began to prepare for the plan. The wife promptly began to clean the house, as the husband removed the furniture from inside to their shed in the back. Mathurin came up with an ingenious idea to solve the problem of their infestation."Will this really work, Matty?" Aimi asked quite curious over the entire thing. She understood the plan, but did not understand how to find the key ingredient."Dont worry Aimi, you can bet your fluffy little tail it will." Mathurin said with a reassuring smile. He knew 100% this would work, thanks to an experience he had previously camping near oak town a year ago. After discovering some interesting mushrooms, Mathurin decides to find out if its edible, by feeding to a trapped field mouse. Upon entering withing 1 meter of the rat, The rat began to convulse and attempt to escape the trap, from the opposite end of the mushroom. Mathurin completely baffled by the incident, played around before coming to the conclusion that the mouse despised the very smell of this mushroom. However the smell was faint to Mathurin and smelled of citrus. Knowing these would quickly solve his problem, he made his way outside of Oak town, to that same location. After several minutes of hiking through a thicket of brush, they came along side a huge cluster of these mushrooms, about 3 meters wide and long. A wonderful patch, with plenty to share for their endeavor. Mathurin immediately harvested a handful of mushrooms, as Aimi looked at him lazily from the shade. The young mage made his way back to the couple, after harvesting and drying the mushrooms. The smell was far more prominent after being dry, and allowed for a fine citrus smell to permeate the area. As soon as he entered with the hand fulls of little sacks of the mushroom chopped and dried, a massive amount of squeaking began. Lot and lots of rats came flooding out of the house, making any attempt to leave the smell. Mathurin handed the couple the sacks to place in all the corners and nooks in their home. After such a long battle with the infestation, the couple were free to live thanks to Mathurin's help.
