Magic
Primary Magic: Runecaster: Books of Equilibrium
Secondary Magic: N/A
Caster or Holder: Caster
Description: This Magic allows the caster to store books in a separate dimension known as the pocket dimension. The books can be magically summoned from the pocket dimension at any given moment, giving the caster a high rate of flexibility, combat-wise. In theory, Runecaster is very similar to the renowned ReQuip magic. What differentiates the two magics is that Runecasters rely solely on books and magical incantations to wreak havoc, whereas ReQuip mages change their apparel (armor and weapon) to the caster's suited needs.
Shunsui has, over time, developed his own magical library. He calls the books residing in the library the Books of Equilibrium. The Books of Equilibrium carries more destructive power than most runecasters, who use more utility spells, buffs, rebuffs, etc. Equilibrium is also the state of balance, hence Shunsui's magical library is made up of books that contain spells of contradicting elements, elements that work well with each other. Shunsui summons a book by shouting its name. The spell is then cast from there. If he does;t have the appropriate book for the spell, the magic shan't happen (Ex. Fireball with the Book of Tears). Shunsui's usual spell will be summoning a book, chanting an incantation, and magic explodes!
Innate Abilities:
Books of Equilibrium
Book of Conflagration [Fire] (D-Rank)
Book of Tears [Water] (D-Rank)
Book of Radiance [Light] (C-Rank)
Book of Obscurity [Dark] (B-Rank)
Book of Gales [Winds] (A-Rank)
Book of Macrocosm [Earth] (S-Rank)
Book of Divinity [N/A] (H-Rank)
Aura Type: N/A
Strengths:
Quick Cast: The speed of summoning a book, citing the incantation, and the time the spell activates takes roughly five seconds. The process of each spell is quick, quick, quick!
Versatility: As stated in the description, this magic, like ReQuip, is extremely flexible, versatile. Books carry various spells with them: buffs, debuffs, utility, offensive, defensive, and so on.
Vast AoE: The majority of spells are AoE spells, doing massive damage to a group of opponents rather than simply one. Is that a crowd I see? Nope, not anymore!
Weaknesses:
Close-Combat: Close combat fighting is strong against this magic. AoE spells hit anything within the area, including Shunsui and his teammates. Shunsui would never cause more trouble for himself.
Slayers: Of course, Slayers have the ability to suck in all of Shunsui's elemental abilities to their liking. This proves that his magic is ineffective against Slayers of the same element.
Change in Combat: Well, Shunsui's magic is extremely situational. Let's say, Mr. Fire Dragon Man here counters Shunsui's Book of Conflagration. Then Shunsui would logically switch to the Book of Tears. The time is roughly five seconds, which in a battle, is life and death.
Limited Arsenal: Like ReQuip, the caster's magic source is the space of his or her pocket dimension space. Therefore, Shunsui has a limited number of books he can summon at once/at all. For more clarity, go back to Innate Abilities.
Lineage:
Truth:
Description: There was once a priest who had devoted his entire life to his religion. As such, he preached about his God's superiority over all others and how the belief in his existence was the only "truth". From his point of view, magic was a heresy created by the heathens, thus he denied it completely, believing it to lead people "down the wrong path". Eventually, after years of unfaltering belief, his beloved deity whispered to him. What was then said remains a mystery, one the priest took to his grave, but tales describe his descendants as "the ones who dispel Lies through their only Truth", seemingly hinting that they have gained an unnatural power through their ancestor's unwavering belief.
Ability: Negates all magic in a 30 meter radius, but in exchange negates the user's magic as well.
Usage: Duration: 6 posts, cool-down: 6 posts. Can only be used 2 times per thread.
Unique Abilities:
Remarkable Memory: As one who has read over a million books, Shunsui can remember any information given to him. This is one part to his brilliant strategical mind.
Miraculous Knowledge: Though he doesn't know everything in the world, Shunsui has knowledge on various basic magics, due to reading from them in books.
Name: Fireball
Rank: D-Rank
Type: Book of Conflagration, Offensive
Description: With the Book of Conflagration, Shunsui recites, "Flames of destruction, reside within my palm. Unleash the powers of ignition." Shunsui brings out one hand and shoots out a fireball that travels at 10 MPH. The fireball then splits into twenty fireballs, attacking the enemy directly in the stomach. The fireballs spread out to strike different opponents. If there's one enemy, the balls have no choice but to attack the single target. The fireball is the size of a car, splitting into the size of basketball.
Strengths:
Elemental Strength: This spell is elementally strong against nature and ice.
Elemental Advantage: This spell is strengthened with the help of light winds.
Single Target: This is one of the few spells that do more damage to single targets. A single fireball doesn't do much, maybe knocks the air out of you. But twenty will surely leave a third-degree burn.
Weaknesses:
Duration/Cooldown: 1 post and 3 posts once duration is over.
Elemental Weakness: This spell is elementally weak against water, earth, and strong winds.
Lack of Oxygen: Without oxygen, fire cannot burn. Therefore, if casted in an enemy area without oxygen, nothing will come out of Shunsui's hand. If the enemy disperses the fire elsewhere or condemns it of oxygen, the fireballs will disappear.
Damage: The flames do more damage the more one is hit with fireballs. Otherwise, the balls do no damage, as they only knock someone off their feet, causing minor damage.
Name: Inflammation
Rank: D-Rank
Type: Book of Conflagration, Offensive
Description: With the Book of Conflagration, Shunsui recites, "Flames of annihilation, hear my call. Eat my enemies, burn my prey." Shunsui drops his book on the floor, open. The book summons ten cinders that make their way to the closest enemies. The cinders ignite on the enemy, exploding on impact. The force is enough to knock someone back or unconscious.
Strengths:
Elemental Strength: This spell is elementally strong against nature and ice.
Elemental Advantage: This spell is strengthened with the help of light winds.
Small Cinders: The cinders are the size of embers at the fireplace. When casting the spell, it surely has a flashy introduction. But once the spell is cast, it is extremely hard to detect small embers flying towards you.
Weaknesses:
Duration/Cooldown: 1 post and 4 posts once duration is over.
Direct Path: The cinders look for an enemy to attack. If they find no one after 1 post, the cinders will disappear. If they do find an enemy, they'll go in a straight path towards them. To dodge this technique, one simply dodges with a sidestep.
Name: Rainfall
Rank: D-Rank
Type: Book of Tears, Defensive
Description: With the Book of Tears, Shunsui recites, "Waters of security, rain on me. Build me a safeguard of serenity." Shunsui brings out one hand and rain drizzles in front of him. The rain becomes a shield that provides protection from attacks in all directions.
Strengths:
Elemental Strength: This spell is elementally strong against fire and earth.
Strength of Shield: The strength of the shield can take up to 2 D-Rank spells or 1 C-Rank spell.
Water Density: Water makes things slower. If the blade of a Holder magician gets caught, it'd be hard to pull it out, rendering that person useless.
Weaknesses:
Duration/Cooldown: 2 post and 4 posts once duration is over.
Elemental Weakness: This spell is elementally weak against lightning and nature.
Space of Shield: The shield can only engulf one person. If Shunsui casts it on himself, then his teammates are open to be attacked. If he casts it on teammates, he wide open.
Conductor of Lightning: Electricity attacks of D-Rank do not only break the shield, they demolish it. The shield grants lightning attacks to do 50% more damage to the person within.
Name: Cascade
Rank: D-Rank
Type: Book of Tears, Defensive
Description: With the Book of Tears, Shunsui recites, "Fountain of youth, drizzle down for me. The sinners shall not pass the torrent of rainfall that comes down." Shunsui drops his book and the spell unleashes from the book, going high into the clouds. A second later, the clouds gift us with a downpour of seawater that forms a shield around a set location the size of a monster truck. No one can walk in nor out of such a downpour.
Strengths:
Elemental Strength: This spell is elementally strong against fire and earth.
Water Weight: Anyone who attempts to go through the raging waters will be knocked down to the ground as quick as can be. The speedy falls drop constantly at 20 MPH for 2 posts.
Wide-Range: This spell is used to protect a group of people or to force a fight where Shunsui outnumbers the enemy. Either way, with this spell, Shunsui forces a large amount of people into a place where they can be safe or they can die without interference.
Weaknesses:
Duration/Cooldown: 2 post and 5 posts once duration is over.
Elemental Weakness: This spell is elementally weak against lightning and nature.
Usage: If used wrong, this could turn out to be a weapon towards himself too. Shunsui cannot cancel a spell until the duration ends. If he ends up trapping himself in a situation he can't win, then he will surely die. Same goes for his teammates. The cascades can also affect his teammates as well as himself.
Damage: Overall, the damage is zero, Z-E-R-O. The water simply knocks someone back. It gives them a little pain, maybe a bruise at most, but otherwise, it doesn't cause any magical inflictions.
