Escort the Duchess (Decayuss;Job) Empty Re: Escort the Duchess (Decayuss;Job)

Post by Decayuss 28th November 2014, 4:13 pm

Deniel had his sheathed sword Nidhogg in one of his hands, and was busy just twirling it back and fourth a bit. He was bored again, but he didn't feel like doing another D rank job. That would just make him more bored and crave more out of it. He grew more anxious and anxious by the moment. he needed some form of action or else he would flip. He reached under his bed and quickly shuffled through requests, thinking of which one might be the best one for him to do. He eventually found a C rank job that he glanced at for a moment, and seemed to interest him. After glancing at it, he took the time to read it all in detail over and over again. Escort a duchess from her summer to winter home. It sounded easy at first, but there was the part where it said Deniel would have to protect her from bandits. Maybe bandits weren't that hard for Deniel could kill, but the carnage he could cause against them could certainly fuel this desire for action right now. With a final decision that this was the job he was going to take, Deniel took off in a similar way that he did the previous easy ones that he did. He ran out of his room like a little kid rushing for candy, and once he reached the outside, he used his Wings of the White Angel so he could jump up in flight and go to the job's location. Technically here...it was the first location. And this first location was Hargeon Town, which he would then escort the duchess to...Clover Town. Consideirng how far Deniel could travel, he didn't expect the journey to take too long. However...she might slow him down.

Whatever the case may be, Deniel finally arrived at Hargeon Town. It wasn't too hard to find her summer home, since she was quite a rich person, it was a much larger house than the rest of them. It had a gate in front of it, along with a very beautiful front yard. Various colors of floweres arranged in patterns, and then there were figures cut out of bushes. The front door was a giant double-door. The house itself was three stories tall, with about eight windows on each side. Deniel landed right in front of the large double-doors, which had a small and grand staircase leading to that from the front yard. Deniel rang the doorbell, and even he could hear the sound it made from the outside. In a few short moments, a woman answered the door, most likely one of the duchess's maids based on her outfit. "What can I help you with?" She was a bit on her guard, mainly from Deniel's appearance. You can't exactly trust a person dressed in black with red eyes and armed with a sword. "My name is Deniel Decayuss Thorman. I'm here from the request of escorting the duchess of this place to her winter home in Clover Town." The maid opened the door a little further now. She politely gave a bow to Deniel. "Ah, yes. We thank you for your assistance. Please, come in. I shall get my misstress immediately." Deniel went inside, and the maid closed the door behind him.

Inside, Deniel saw a massive staircase that lead upstairs to the second floor, with two hallways coming from each side to the staircase. And then, to Deniel's right and left, there were two additional doors. The maid went upstairs, and then took a left, leaving Deniel alone. Deniel took a little bit longer to take in his surroundings. On each side of the staircase were vases atop small platforms, and these vases each had beautiful flowers inside of them. The carpet was red and trimmed with golden designs all around. Whoever this duchess was, she sure was one rich woman. Deniel was expecting a woman probably older than himsef, and more than likely to be spoiled along with considering him inferior to her. That's what he was expecting, anyway. In a few moments, he was proven wrong, but he didn't know which option was first. A girl wearing a very elegant purple dress with a large purple bow tied to both the back of it, and the back of her head. Her hair was long, going down to her back, and a black color. Her eyes were purple, just like her dress, and along with her dress she wore purple gloves to cover up her hands. She came out with the maid, and looked down the staircase to see Deniel standing there. "Oh...umm...are you my escort? You're-you're not exactly...what I imagined." It wasn't as bad as a complete spoiled brat...but it still wasn't good. Deniel gave an annoyed look, and he felt like giving her a piece of his mind.

"Mistress, please, this gentleman has come to aid you. I advise you not to be so rude to him." The girl nodded, but didn't look Deniel straight in the eye. She seemed a bit scared of him. "I-I know...b-but...he's kind of...scary." Now Deniel was even more ticked off. "Mistress--" "I've heard enough!" Deniel spoke over the maid, since she obviousy wasn't doing any good. He wanted to take care of the problem himself. He didn't go up to the duchess, but just from standing there he could still giveh er a good glare. "I'll point out that when you have someone 'scary' on your side, then that means your enemies will be scared, too. It doesn't appear that anyone will take this job other than me. You can get over how I look, and go with me...or you can go by yourself...AND DIE! The choice is yours to make." Deniel definitely made his point clear. The duchess was silent for a few moments, and then she sighed and spoke up. "O-Okay...I'll go with you." She descended down the steps with her maid escorting her. Once they reached the bottom, the duchess walked to the door, and the maid whispered something in Deniel's ear. "I know you may not like her now but....please. Make sure she is safe!" Deniel only looked at her with his red eyes, and gave a very faint not. It was true that this duchess already got on his nerves, but he took the job, and there was no way he was going to fail it.

Deniel followed the duchess outside of her house, into the morning daylight, and the two were off. Deniel originally flew inside, but when going outside, he walked with her. They walked side-by-side, since that's what Deniel saw as the most effective form of defense to a person. If he were in front, he could block things from the front, but someone could get her from behind. If he were in the back, then that left her wide open. But with him by her side, that opened many more possibilities of defense. While they passed through the area, everyone made way for her. They moved out of their way, and made sure there was plenty of room. He even saw several people whispering to each other and pointing at Deniel. Something didn't really feel right about this to him. "Why are they looking at us like that?" Deniel whispered to the duchess. "They think you're my lover. Don't you remember the description? You have to pretend that way." Deniel was about to shout at the top of his lungs "WHAT", but that wouldn't be a good idea with so many people looking. Maybe they were pointing at him because he didn't seem like he was her lover. Reluctantly, he grabbed on to her hand with his, and they walked from there. That seemed to shut most people up, but he still felt very uneasy about it all.

It wasn't until they were finally out of Hargeon Town that Deniel let go of her hand immediately. He still felt somewhat humiliated about the fact that he had to go through with that. The duchess noticed how he felt, too, and felt somewhat guilty about how she treated him. "You...you never told me your name. I'm Hime Takanshi." Well, at least she apologized for her behavior earlier. Although she looked at him, Deniel didn't bother looking at her. He wasn't quite ready to forgive her. "My name is Deniel," he said, sounding very dark and cold, "Deniel Decayuss Thorman." Even though he wasn't looking at her, she still stared up at him. Deniel was over six feet, while she was barely five foot ten. "D-Deniel...I'm sorry. S-sorry for my behavior earlier. It was...inconsiderate of me." Deniel's frown on his face somewhat lightened, but he still had to retain his intimidating nature. "You wouldn't be the first, so don't feel bad." Well, she did feel bad. In fact, after that, she felt even worse. She wasn't the first? That meant he heard hurtful things a lot, and all she did was say something hurtful to him as well. And here he was, helping her out with nothing to gain but a bunch of jewels. That's what was going on her mind as she walked with Deniel.

Meanwhile, in Deniel's mind, he didn't really know what to think. He didn't know if she was truly sorry or not, or if she was just faking it to make him feel better. He was also kind of hoping that they would get attacked, since that's the reason that he came on this mission. To get some action in his life. However, they were at the trail for a long time, and still not a sign. Deniel got pretty bored of walking by a girl he didn't like, and he still didn't look at her. The entire time, on the other hand, she was staring at him, and then back at the trail, and then back at him. She still felt bad for what she said to him, but had no idea how in the world she was going to fix it. He seemed much to closed off to anyone for her to do anything, and she was wondering why. Didn't this man have any friends....at all? She felt like asking him, but she was afraid of him yelling at her or getting angry, so she kept her mouth shut. More hours had passed by, and still not a sign of anyone or anything trying to attack them. By now they were a little more than halfway to Clover Town, however, Hime didn't have the stamina Deniel did. The sun was setting, and she was exhausted. If it were up to Deniel, he would just keep going throughout the night and not care. However, she suddenly stopped and dropped to her knees.

Deniel, for once, stopped and looked back at her. "What's the matter? We still have a long way to go. Get up." She shook her head, and didn't budge. "No! I'm tired, and I need to rest! I'm not you! I-I can't keep going! I need a place to sleep!" Tears started to swell up in her eyes, and now Deniel felt like the guilty, inconsiderate one. He realized that she wasn't him; she didn't have his strength or stamina. In fact, he was amazed that she had even made it this far. Deniel grunted and looked around himself. He didn't really plan on having to sleep, so he didn't have any blankets or anything to put on her. And if he didn't do something fast, she would just keep on crying. Without much of a choice, Deniel walked over to her and...he held out his hand. She suddenly looked at her, sniffling. He tired not to smile, but he still held his hand for her. She took it, and he stood her up. "Alright. If you need to rest, we'll rest. Just don't cry. Now...the first thing we need is a fireplace, and then I'll see if I can get you a bed of some sort. Follow me." She nodded at him, and he lead her into the woods surrounding the trail. He stopped at a small area that some trees surrounded. He looked at the surrounding trees, and picked out a few branches. For the first time in the mission, Deniel drew his sword. From where he was standing, Deniel cut down several of the branches on the tree.

Then he placed these branches in one spot, and then collected a few rocks. He surrounded the branches in a circle of the rocks, and finally completed it with small twigs. And then, taking a stick with a good, sharp end of it, Deniel rubbed it on one of the branches near some of the dry twigs. Some smoke came out of it, and Deniel blew on it. He kept this up for a good five minutes, until finally a small fire started. The dried up twigs helped it grow and burn, and eventually the whole fire was covering up the wood. The whole time, Hime watched, and she was amazed and impressed. "Wow! That's so cool, Deniel!" She dropped to her knees and held her palms up to the fire so she could warm them up. Deniel was glad that part was done. He stood up to his feet, and looked around. He was wondering what he could do for a bed, exactly. Deniel looked at all of the leaves that were on the ground from him cutting the branches, and that gave him an idea. While Hime was warming herself up and enjoying the fire, near it, he put down the leaves in a certain pattern. The best he could do was make a rectagle, since the leaves would cover up most up the rough terrain. And then, to cover it up more, Deniel took off his coat and laid it down on the leaves. Deniel was satisfied with the job he had done, "Hime, over here." She looked at him over the fire, and then stood up from where she was. She walked over to see his coat over a pile of leaves. The sun had finally finished setting by the time Deniel was done with all of this, and the night covered the sky.

"It's not much, but it's the least I can do. You'll sleep here tonight." To test it out, Hime laid down on the spot, and pulled Deniel's coat over her. It wasn't as good as her beds, but it was more than she expected. "I like it, Deniel. But...where will you sleep?" Deniel sat beside her and poked at the fire with a stick. "I won't. I don't need it, anyway. I'm just going to stay watch and stay up." Hime didn't really like the sound of it. "B-But--" "NO BUTS! ....Just get to sleep." Deniel didn't want to raise his voice, but he didn't want her to worry about him. He felt underestimated. It wouldn't be the first time someone did that, anyway. He could go long periods of time without eating, drinking, or sleeping. Hime didn't want him to yell at her further, so she did as he told her to and curled up, with her front side facing the body so it could warm her up even more. Something was bothering her, though. Something he said...that she wasn't the first one to insult him, and she couldn't get it out of her mind. "Deniel..." Deniel sighed as he poked the fire with his stick to keep it going. "What?" He stared at her with his red eyes glowing even brighter than the fire in the darkness.

She was somewhat intimidated and fearful of him, but she wasn't going to let that get in her way of asking him. "What did you mean by I wasn't the first to...not like you based on your appearance? I know something must have happened to you in the past that hurt you a lot. What was it?" Deniel's gaze shifted over to the fire instead of Hime. It reflected in his bright red eyes, as it did his soul. The fire of hatred that once burned inside of Deniel, that still somewhat burns today. "If it hasn't been made clear already, I'm not a human, Hime. And...I guess some people don't like that. I come from Bellum, but I'm not too proud of it. I was put in prison because I was inhuman. I was tortured, starved, you name it. I was even forced to fight the other prisoners for entertainment of any of the audiences that showed up. And a lot of them did...and they were all against me." Deniel clenched his fist at the thought of remembering Bellum's Private Prison. And the guard's words on the day that he arrived there...he could never ever get it out of his head.

"You'll never get out of here, kid! You're trapped inside this Hell until you die!"

Deniel shuddered at the thought of the words. "I fought for my freedom, and gained it. After that, I isolated myself and never trusted humans. I thought they hated me beacuse I was a Nephalem, and that's what lead to my arrest. However, I've grown wiser in such a short amount of time. I know that wasn't the reason, and I'm an idiot for thinking I'm different from humans. In fact, I might be much worse. Whatever the reason was, I'll find it. Until I do, I'll still keep my guard up." Deniel thought of what else he could say to her, to explain why he felt the way he did. "Deniel, was your heart broken, too?" Deniel stared at Hime with a pair of wide eyes. It was a weird question, but what surprised him more was she was right. Somewhat, anyway. "In a way, I am. I met a girl once, and I loved her more than anything. However, there was one thing I couldn't do for her, and that was protect her from myself. If I can't protect her from myself, then I'll only end up killing her one day. It broke her heart, as it did mine...if I had one." Hime didn't know what he meant by that, but she was far too tired now. She laid back down on the leaves and Deniel's coat, and closed her eyes. She fell asleep shortly, leaving Deniel by himself to stare into the fire.

It was refreshing for him to get that off of his chest and say it to a person, even if he had no reason to trust her. And he thought about how foolish he was before. Humans weren't terrible, and Bellum must have had its reasons. Maybe being a Nephalem had something to do with it, but he had to have done something else. He just couldn't remember what, though. At the same time, he couldn't remember how his heart was removed by Virgil. Both of them connected on the same day, a day that he had forgotten. And Deniel was going to work to remembering it no matter what. Or he would die trying. "Nidhogg....you know the secret, don't you? You know everything? You know who my mother and father are, why Bellum imprisoned me, and why Virgil ripped my heart out?" Deniel didn't address his sword around Hime, since he didn't want to scare her any further. Deniel put two and two together; Nidhogg knew he was a Nephalem, and pretty much everything about him. He had to have known those things, too. "Yeah, I do." Deniel smiled into the fire, and looked down at his sword. "Well, at least one of us won't be surprised when I find out." Deniel knew it was useless to even try to ask Nidhogg for the answers. And if Nidhogg denied him, that must have meant he would find them all on his own one day. He was just wondering how far or close that day would be.

The rest of the night, Deniel spent in silence. He thought about his memories of his jobs, and the times he and Nidhogg had together. He also thought about Alyia. About how she was doing now. She was more than likely doing better than Deniel, both now and in the long run. Guys all around would go crazy for her, even if she was an angel. And if she took his advice, she would find someone amazing. Deniel, in the meantime, would remain with just him and Nidhogg by his side. A warrior and his sword, on a road filled with nothing but blood until the day Deniel laid in his death bed, with the stench of regret on his last dying breath. Quite a short, sad life, but at least he will have plenty of adventure. "I could taste the finest meals in all of the world. Be with the fairest maidens in Fiore. But nothing...nothing will ever satisfy me more than drawing my blade." Deniel put his hand on Nidhogg's hilt; the only thing that would stick with him until the end. "I love you too, Deniel. Hehe." Both of them let out small chuckles, and then they each shared laughs for a few minutes. A few hours passed by, and the sun came over the horizon, and eventualy overhead.

At around eight o-clock, Deniel shook Hime from her sleep. The fire had completely died down, and he was still awake. "G-good morning, Deniel. Is it time to go?" Deniel nodded at Hime. She stood up from where she was sitting down, and stretched herself out. The first thing Deniel did was snatch his coat off of her shoulders, and put it back on his. "I'll take that~ Hahahah!" Hime puffed her cheeks, but the two of them got back on the trail and moved on once again. Deniel and Hime walked and walked, and it wasn't long until Deniel finally got his wish. He and Hime were just about a mile or two away from Clover Town, and that's when Deniel heard rustling in the brushes. Deniel put his hand in front of Hime so she could stop. "Hime, stay close to me!" The rustling got a bit stronger, and all around them. Hime was getting scared, but Deniel wasn't. She clung to Deniel's arm, and looked around her in fear. The whole time, Deniel had a giant smirk on his face. Eventually, the rustling came from in front of them. Instead of surrounding them, all of the soon-to-be-deadmen came in front of Deniel. There were about twenty of them in total; bandits. Some had crossbows, one of them had an axe, and a majority of them had swords. They were all laughing like typical bad guys, but Deniel still smirked at them.

"D-Deniel...what are we going to do!?" She clung to him further. Eventually, one of the bandits stepped forward above the rest. "I'll cut ya' a deal, lad! Give us de' girl, and ye' can walk away with ya' life!" Hime screamed at the thought of it, and clung to him even more. Tears were coming out of her eyes; she was scared out of her mind that Deniel was going to leave her. "NO! PLEASE! DON'T LEAVE ME DENIEL! DON'T LEAVE ME WITH THEM! NOOO--" Hime suddenly felt Deniel's hand on her head. She opened up her closed tight eyes, and saw him smirking down at her. "Hime, how old are you?" She sniffled, with tears still coming out of her eyes. She didn't understand why he asked, but she still answered. "S-Seventeen..." Deniel took a step forward, and she reluctantly let go of him. She trusted him to do something instead of leave her. He took off his coat, and looked back at her one last time with a smirk on his face. "That's a letdown. Sorry, kid." He suddenly threw his coat so it would cover up her entire body, and she couldn't see. He grabbed Nidhogg's hilt, and started to draw it from the scabbard as he said:

"This next show is for adults only."

And then off he went. His black blade, Nidhogg, was fully out of his scabbard, and the adult show was about to start. Deniel didn't need a Take Over for this, he was going to do it as him, and no one else. He jumped in the middle of them all, and right away he slashed behind him, severing the arm of one of them. And then he stabbed the chest of another, killing him off the bat.. One came to cut him with his sword. Deniel blocked it and cut the bandit diagonally from his shoulder all the way down to his thigh, and then stabbed him in the chest. Two were down. He let the one with the severed arm suffer long enough, so he jumped behind him, and instead of stabbing in the chest, he decapitated him, a new way of killing someone that he decided to try. One of them managed to sneak up behind Deniel while he grabbed another bandit by his foot, cut them both off, and then stabbed him in the chest. The one that snuck up behind him stabbed his sword through his back. The bandit thought he had killed Deniel...but Deniel simply turned around with drops of blood on his face, and a gigantic smirk that looked more like a sinister grin to the bandit. Deniel had him by the neck, and dug his sword deep into his chest. He threw that person to another bandid, and moved on to kill another one. The whole thing that was going on wasn't a fight, it was a slaughter. And Deniel's brutality did, indeed, make it an adult's show.

Hime struggled to get Deniel's jacket off of her, somehow. She didn't know why, it just didn't come off her head. By the time she had finally pulled it off, she sat Deniel standing right in front of her. He was facing away from all of the bandits, with his sword, and part of his face covered in blood. The bandits behind him were standing still, and then, all of a sudden, a deep wound formed in all of their chests, as if a massive blade swung at them all at the same time. Right behind Deniel were bloody and severed corpses. She covered her eyes up right away, almost screaming. Deniel swung his sword to made the blood come off of it and on the ground, and then sheathed it. "I told you this show was for adults only." Hime didn't say anything. She just kept on cowering, not wanting to look at the scene or Deniel. She kept Deniel's coat over her head, and then felt his hand grasp hers. He lead her away from the slaughter, and back on the road leading to Clover Town. Eventually, she got the courage to take Deniel's coat off of her head and hand it back to him. She looked up at him to see his expression. The smirk on his face was still there, for a reason she didn't know. Deniel's reason...he was finally satisfied. That fight, although it wasn't challenging, did give him the feeling that he always craved.

It wasn't long until Deniel and Hime finally reached Clover Town. Now that they were around people, he had to hold her hands again. She was still kind of scared of him. When she first met him, she was scared, and then she began to understand him, but now she was even more scared than before. Terrified, even. How could Deniel gain pleasure in killing people? She couldn't think of the slightest justified reason why a person would do that. Deniel couldn't either. He just liked it. He no longer saw death as a mercy, it wasn't. He had grown wiser than before, and that was one of the parts that showed he did. Death wasn't a mercy. It was nearly a sin. It caused grief, misery, pain, agony, and so much more. But for Deniel, something about it gave him a twisted form of pleasure. Watching a person cling on to the last bit of their life before finally having it ripped away from him with a single stab in the chest. Both of these uneasy thoughts were going on in both of their heads as Deniel lead Hime to the location she needed to go. Yet another mansion, but this one was her home for the winter. Hime was still thinking about how exactly she felt about Deniel. He was really scary; he looked scary, acted scary, and he killed people for fun. In every way possible, he wasn't a good person. But what he said to her at the campfire the night before. About what Bellum did to him, and the fact that he considered himsefl 'heartless'.

She didn't know what he meant by that, but maybe that justified why he felt and acted the way he did. And maybe someday, with the right person, he could be a much better person. The thought of that gave her a smile. He wasn't bad...he was just misunderstood. By people around him, but more importantly...himself. When Deniel and Hime reached the gates of her new home, he let go of her hand and crossed his arms. "There. My job here is done. I expect I'll get paid shortly through a delivery?" Hime nodded at him and started to open the gates. "This is good-bye, Deniel. But no this...there is nothing out there that can't be redeemed. Even you. If you simply try, you can be a much better person." After she said that, Hime closed the gates behind her and ran for the steps of her winter home. Deniel was left by himself, save for Nidhogg. He thought about what she said. "Nothing can't be redeemed, eh? We'll see about that. Either she's right and I can perhaps be am uch better person one day, or she's wrong and I'm stuck the way I am. The way things are going...maybe she is right. But then again, nothing has really happened to say that I'm wrong. I'll see what happens in the future, Nidhogg. But for now...Mission complete!"
