Kihia was sitting down crossed legs on the highest roof of the Lamia Scale Guild hall, he had been tasked with an important task from Master Zuo. One of the members of Lamia Scale had partaken in a number of adventures, and had been deemed worthy to take one of the Guilds special tests to test his merit as a person and a mage. Kihia had left a note on the one spot Ni-ju always checked, the job request board. It had requested him to meet him on this very roof top, however he had left out the reason as to why.

Kihia sat there, he had left his trench coat in his room, he was wearing a sleeveless grey T shirt outside his normal clothing habits. The wind ripped over the rooftop, it was unsurprising considering that this roof top was up so high, Kihia however, like the part of the Lamia Scale Guild hall, was unwavering sitting there meditating, getting a feel for what was going on around him, I hope Ni-Ju is ready… This day is one he will hopefully remember…

Ni-Ju strode through the doors of the Lamia Scale guild hall after a very pleasant morning of fishing from the nearby docks. The butlers attire that served him day in and day out had become something of a problem while cleaning and gutting the fish so his jacket had been removed and cinched around his waist.. Setting his catch bucket and equipment down carefully next to the door, Ni-Ju stopped to check the job board before going in search of someone else who might enjoy sharing some fresh fish for lunch. Much to his surprise, there was a small note asking him to meet on the roof of the guild hall signed by Kihia. "Maybe Kihia would care for some sea food?" Ni-Ju mused, grabbing his catch bucket and making his way back through the main entrance. Climbing the rope that he kept hanging a short distance from the door, Ni-Ju stepped out onto the lowest rooftop. Three hours of awkward one handed climbing finally found him pulling himself up onto the top of the tallest of the guild hall's parapets, breathless. Kihia sat a short distance away, cross legged, looking out over the town. In an effort to both be polite and out of respect for one of the first people to have greeted his entrance into the guild, Ni-Ju dropped as close an approximation of a sardonic bow as one could while carrying a wooden bucket and covering a stitch in one's side. "I believe you wanted to see me?".

Kihia opened his eyes when he heard Ni-Ju’s voice speak up, he turned to him and nodded in greeting. “Hello there Ni-Ju, I am glad to see you are doing well.” Kihia pointed to a small a spot where a bit of ice in the shape of a box was placed. “The reason I called you up here, It has come to my attention, that you have been achieved and helped out in various areas across Fiore. Enough so that you will be tested, to truly test your merit as a Mage of Lamia Scale.” Kihia paused for a moment as the wind ripped across the flattened roof top once again, “I will be the proctor for your test, this test will consist of three trials…. one for each of the Guilds Three Dominate Virtues... Wisdom, Power, and Courage... I hope you are ready for this…”

"Always ready to prove my worth if its for the guild." Ni-Ju replied grinning after Kihia had finished speaking. This would be his first test since joining Lamia Scale and he was understandably nervous but his stubborn streak wouldn't let it show. He dropped the fish into the icy bucket that had been provided and turned back to face the man who would be examining the growth he had experienced since joining the guild with the calm, ready, expression of a man set on doing something. "So how exactly do these trials work?".

Kihia gently smiled at Ni-Ju’s remark, and sighed and looked around looking at Hargeon, before finally resting his gaze back on Ni-Ju. He gently smiled once again and said, “The tests will involve testing you on the three virtues of our Guild, Wisdom, Courage, and Power… There is however, one universal rule for this entire exam… You can only use your magic…” Kihia let those words hang in the air for a moment, he knew back in the field trial, an injury had accidentally caused Ni-Jus magic to change, from one that seem to copy other peoples elemental spells, to one that destroys them.

After a moment Kihia put his left hand on the ground channeling his magical power into it, he then formed eight, 8 meter tall, two feet wide, pillars of ice each one seven feet away from him. There were four textures present, each one present on 2 pillars, a Diamond Pattern, a square/cube pattern, a pebble pattern and a smooth pattern. When he finished Kihia nodded and then lifted his hand up and formed a small bottle made out of crystal. “Your first test… The Test of Wisdom” Kihia then extended his hand out to a spot near Ni-Ju and formed a small stand, “For this test you must knock this crystal bottle off my head… using the pillars around me, You can freely walk around and examine your options and plan, however, when you cast your spell, it must be behind the stand before you now. The additional rule for this exam is that you cannot accidently hit me in the process… You have three attempts, Begin when you are ready…” Kihia placed the bottle on his head and closed his eyes and waited, the only way Ni-ju will accomplish this, is if he properly detonated one of the diamond patterned pillars, just above the two meter mark.

(OOC note: IQ’s Ice Detonation has no CD for the duration of this test and he will have the ability to shrink the blast radius as he sees fit, and as for the pillars, each piece of the pattern on the pillars are a separate peace, giving you the capability to aim at one certain part.)

Ni-Ju walked around each of the pillars, examining them in turn. Running his hands over the closest, a diamond patterned pillar, he couldn't help but marvel over the preciseness of Kihia's magic in comparison to his own. After each pillar had been checked at least twice, he had established what he hoped was a decent idea of the height he would need to hit his target from past experience and had ruled out the use of the plain pillars due to an inability to calculate an exact trajectory. At this point it was merely a gamble on which of the three remaining types of pillars would posses the cracking characteristics he needed in order to hit the bottle without catching Kihia in the shrapnel. Calculating the angles with the mind of someone who spent a good deal of their time setting traps for various types of game he realized that more information would be necessary in order to adjust his shots and his first attempt would be a perfect time to do just that. Ni-Ju stopped pacing around the circle and took his place at the stand where everything would begin, for better or worse. Whispering a short prayer for good luck he concentrated his power on a pebble patterned section just above Kihia's own six feet and change of height and micro detonated it.

Kihia watched as Ni-Ju walked around the roof top examining the six pillars, trying to develop a proper plan on how to complete the task before him. Kihia gently smiled, This task will not be an easy one… lets just see if he notices the finer details of the Diamond patterned pillars…. Kihia then watched as Ni-Ju then walked over to the ice stand and took position. Kihia then watched as Ni-Ju casted his spell and detonated a section of one of the pebble patterned pillars.

The detonation sent of dozens upon dozens of small pebble shaped pieces of ice flying towards Kihia. He sat there as they pelted him and the bottled knocking it down. Kihia gently smiled and sighed, “Sorry Ni-Ju not quite, I will reset that pillar for you but you have to try again.” Kihia gestured towards the fallen pillar and reformed it back to how it was, as well as placed the bottle back upon his head. “Think Ni-Ju, think about the shapes and how they relate to the test, and if you do that, you will find your answer."

Ni-Ju's thinking was divided at this point. The pebble patterned pillar had been almost as bad as he theorized it would be to use the plain pillars, leaving his remaining choices fairly plain. The cubed pillars or the diamond? Both choices made a certain amount of sense when he thought about it. The cubed pillar's held a very solid pattern that would most likely detonate very evenly but lack much in the way of directionality. On the other hand the diamond pillar's sharply defined points and overall aerodynamic shape would provide a wave of shot that would that would fly fast and hit hard, probably dropping very little in the process. Taking the least likely of his choices in order to confirm what he already believed to be the answer, Ni-Ju focused on the cubed pillar at the same height as his first attempt and executed the small mental push he had began to associate with using his new magic.

Kihia watched as Ni-ju had stood there for a moment, thinking to himself about his next move. He closed his eyes and meditated a bit listening to the area around him, It is such a peaceful day… such a good day for these excersises… He then heard a small pop coming from a direction from one of the cube pillars and felt something fly by him, making the bottle rock back and forth but not yet falling, “Not Quite Ni-Ju, you have one last and final attempt, although I am certain you will get it." Kihia didn't open his eyes he remained sitting there, and started to store up magical power, he had full confidence Ni-Ju would pull this off... and move on to the test of Courage...

Ni-Ju watched in fascination as his second attempt fell short of expectations, barely managing to make the bottle move. Taking heart from the fact that he had still hit the bottle, Ni-Ju began psyching himself up for his third and final try. Standing there with the sun shining down on his back, staring over the glistening pillars, Ni-Ju was hit with a sudden flash of inspiration that helped to reinforce his somewhat shaky belief in his remaining choice. He didn't know how he had missed it the first couple of times but from his position behind the stand, with the full light of the sun behind him, he would swear the diamond pillars looked like the scales of some sort of fantastical beast. Putting two and two together pretty quickly with his answer staring him right in the face, Ni-Ju couldn't help but feel like a moron. With a much renewed confidence, Ni-Ju began to focus on the diamond pillar at the same height as he had used before, imagining the tail of large serpent-like creature lashing out at the bottle just as he released his magic into the pillar.

Kihia sat there as he heard the final popping noise emanate from one of the scale pillars, he then felt something hit the Crystal bottle squarely and knocked it off making it fall and shatter on the ground, shortly after that, the remaining pillars shattered leaving the specs of ice hovering around the area. “Congratulations Ni-Ju, you have completed the Test of Wisdom, Take a small moment to rest before we move on to your next test.” Kihia stood up and took a long look around gauging the amount of space they will need for the last two exercises.

After about thirty minutes Kihia felt the time was right and he placed both of his hands on the ground and channeled his magical power into the roof. An ice platform rose up from the roof and then expanded outward, eventually forming a diameter of sixty meters. “This will be the platform for the last two tests Ni-Ju, The ice we are now standing on is of a very high caliber, you will not be able to detonate it. Your next test, is the Test of Courage…” Kihia put his hands together and prepared a special rendition of one his spells, “Ice Make… Grand Guardian!” Kihia watched as the Grand Guardian quickly formed a few meters away from him, “This is one of my Constructs, it is very well developed for defense, so much so that it can take a considerable beating before falling… This one has been modified to have a small portion of itself weak enough that if you manage to locate it, you will be able to detonate it. That is your Goal Ni-Ju, now Begin!” As Kihia said that the ice Construct slide forward towards Ni-ju raising one of it’s shields up and bringing it down to try and hit the young mage.

Ni-Ju looked on in curiosity as Kihia created a large circular platform underneath them with his magic. Explaining the rules of the second test as he went, Kihia then summoned a large icy construct in the center of his newly made miniature arena. The object of the test seemed fairly simple as he gave it ; find the one vein of ice capable of being detonated within the golem and do so before a big icy shield pounded the idea clear out of his head. Finished with his explanation, Kihia shouted for the test to begin.

With a speed he wouldn't have thought possible in something so bulky, the Guardian lashed out at Ni-Ju with its shield, in a fierce overhead smash. Fighting his first instinct and dodging forward instead of back, he found himself suddenly sliding on the ice directly toward the construct's body. Without anything to grab hold of,Ni-Ju bounced off the golem's leg face first, knocking him squarely on his rump. The Guardian, hellbent on doing its orders, promptly recovered from its first attack and followed with double shield bash, from left to right. Doing the only thing he could think of at the time, Ni-Ju focused on the air a short distance behind him and unleashed a low centered micro Air Detonation, sending his prone form zooming through the construct's legs and across the ice. As he sailed through the Guardian's legs, Ni-Ju got a glimpse of what had to be his target, a patch of white that would have been easily missed if he wasn't staring right at it.

Ni-Ju dug his boots and fingers into the ice, managing to stop just before reaching the edge. Standing up slowly to avoid falling, he turned to face his opponent as it did the same. With it's weakness now identified, Ni-Ju felt a sense of calm wash over him. Picturing the white spot he had seen on the golem's back as something akin to a frozen lake in a land of snow, he reached out with his magic and gave it a small prod, willing for it to discharge it's energy.

Kihia watched as Ni-Ju had engaged the Grand Guardian, trying to come to terms with fighting on ice instead of solid ground. He had managed to avoid the Constructs attacks and tried his best to free sliding around doing his best to scout out the great ice construct. It wasn’t until Ni-ju had changed direction by detonating a portion of the air to accelerate him through the constructs legs. Kihia watched as he passed by the spot where the ice vein was located, I see that he has spotted it… however… he may have chosen a bad time… Kihia watched as Ni-ju managed to stop himself as he reached the edge, Kihia felt a small bit of magical extend towards the construct as it turned to charge towards him. The ice vein within the construct suddenly detonated causing a chain reaction causing the construct to fall apart. Kihia watched as it fell apart in a pile of ice on the ice platform.

He gently smiled and extended out his hands and twisted them upward causing the entire ice platform to sudden shift and deform, the ice dipped down in the sliding both Kihia and Ni-Ju back onto the Marble surface of the Guild hall, and shaping the ice into a magnificent spiraling structure that pointed up into the sky. Kihia waited a moment and examined the transformed ice, and then swung his right hand to the side and dispelled the ice. “The Tests of Wisdom and Courage have been completed…. Ni-Ju, By the title bestowed upon me from Master Zuo, I decree that you are now one of Lamia Scales C rank Class Mages… Congratulations in this achievement… May your journeys be safe, and you continue to become one of the Heroes of this world!” Kihia waited there for a moment and thought to himself, He will need to grow before he partakes in the Test of Power…. I pray that he shall be ready…
