Personality:
Outside of combat, Kozai appears to be a genial person, looking out for new friends at all times. To others, he can appear a little bit wacky, and somewhat ditzy, but not annoying as such. He tends to reach out to people, and get to know them, along with sharing himself. As a result, people so far have tended to trust him, only to find out their mistake later on. However, to general people, he pretends to be "that nice boy" who everyone pats on the head and appreciates a little. This small bit of bonding goes a long way when Kozai targets someone. When he does, he attempts to find that person's personality weaknesses, while slowly sliding himself into their life. Eventually, he subverts that person's friends and inserts himself into his or her everyday functions, making the victim increasingly dependent on Kozai. To outsiders, this seems like a pretty damn evil act, but to Kozai, it's like a game where the loser ends up getting severed from all the rest of society. Clearly, he has lost a few times before, but he managed to mitigate the damage, something he tends to be pretty good at. He seriously dislikes getting into massive trouble, as any person normally would. To people, however, who actually become real friends to him (very few), he keeps a kind but aloof tone. However, to those who seem to be impervious to his manipulation, he dislikes immensely, and is constantly plotting their death.
In battle, Kozai is calm and confident, and rarely panics at all. The only time in which he would do anything of the sort is where reality bends itself. Since this doesn't seem to happen all too much in normal combat, Kozai is usually pretty cool and slick during fights. He doesn't yell or scream battle cries at his enemies, as he believes that this merely alerts them to his presence, which is a pretty foolish thing to do. He doesn't mind that his opponent uses dirty tricks, and he certainly doesn't mind taking damage either, as annoying and detrimental as it is. When working in a team where he's not the leader, he usually pretends to trust his leader's instincts, and sees where it takes him. However, this means that his true personality while helping out is somewhat cynical and mistrustworthy; if he has to backstab his teammates and his leader to get the maximum gain from the job, he will. Generally, however, allies for him are useful to keep around. As an actual team leader, however, he doesn't "lead from the front" like many others would, but rather, he "leads from the rear", using communication and tactics to get things done. However, the fact that he's rarely out there on the battlefield makes others lose respect for him, which he's been pretty used to at this point. As to his attitude towards being a leader... he's usually pretty happy just following someone else and leaving the responsibility for failure to them instead.
Likes:
- Night: Kozai likes the night, as its a good time to meditate... and to hide.
- Warmth: Kozai takes great comfort in warmth, not being used to cold environments
- Company: Unless a task or mission requires being by himself, Kozai usually likes having friends along for the fun.
Dislikes:
- Bright Lights: Lens flares decrease Kozai's visibility, which is why he hates them so much.
- Wacky Magic: That is, Kozai doesn't like magic that doesn't make sense; i.e. magic that bends the laws of physics and reality.
- Being a Target: Kozai hates being the focus of attention in a battle, as it's more risky than not.
Motivations:
- Power: By attaining more power, Kozai hopes to correct and erase his mistakes in the past.
- Chaos: By causing more fear and anguish, Kozai knows that the truth will eventually reveal itself
- Friendship!: Yes, Kozai wants more friends, as he has precious few; he wants more than just allies and tools.
Fears:
- Spiders: Kozai has arachnophobia, an irrational fear of spiders.
- Enormously Powerful Mages: Kozai isn't just cautious around powerful mages, he can be downright afraid, depending on the mage's power level.
- Illogical Riches: Suddenly coming across random piles of money makes Kozai even more cynical, and unwilling to trust his comrades.
