Delivering a letter didn't sound like it would be too difficult. That was until he actually caught sight of the size of the crowd sitting in front of of the Magnolia Opera House. Sighing loudly, Ni-Ju began to look for an alternative to facing the gauntlet of the crowd directly. Spotting what looked to be members of the stage crew going into a small alley, Ni-Ju decided to take his chances and follow after in the hope that an opportunity would present itself.
Stepping into the alleyway proper, Ni-Ju's nose was assailed by the smell long growing mold and rotting refuse. A cloying scent that seemed to have soaked into the very wood of the surrounding buildings. Resisting the urge to vomit, Ni-Ju plugged his nose and followed after the crew. After what seemed an eternity, the crew stopped at a nondescript wooden door in what had to be the back of the opera house. Ni-Ju actually had to take a second to stop and admire the thought the architect had put into making such a unique building. The broad front and triangular shaped back of the building both served to funnel people in through the main entrance while also making it difficult to approach any of the staff entrances located to the rear. Truly a thing of genius from both a business and tactical perspective. Filing the thought away for later, Ni-Ju waited until the last of the crew had entered the door before making his move and slipping into place right behind them.
Ni-Ju entered into a world of frenzied activity the likes of which he had never seen before. Unfortunately this is where it seemed his luck had finally caught up to him as he immediately caught the gaze of someone who was clearly in charge.Watching over the whole enterprise with a weathered eye, this middle aged woman with the looks of a professional ballerina and the demeanor of a seasoned drill sergeant commanded his whole and unequivocal attention as she effortlessly parted the stage crew to make her way over to him. "You, young man, are nearly twenty minutes late." she accused, grabbing his arm and steering him into an empty dressing room against his protests, closing the door behind them. With the door firmly closed and locked she turned back to face him, grinning as if she were a cat that had just just found a large bowl of cream that someone had left unattended. "I honestly don't know who you are or why it is that you decided to sneak onto my stage on one of our biggest nights of the year but I for one am certainly glad you did.".
Getting the wrong idea immediately and unable to explain himself effectively, Ni-Ju began to back away slowly. "I.....just....deliver letter.....Wilhelmina." Ni-Ju stuttered uselessly, blushing a furious shade of red and holding the letter in front of him as if it were some sort of shield. Looking up from behind his flimsy paper defense after a full ten seconds of silence, Ni-Ju was surprised to see the woman's face covered in tears as she attempted to suppress laughter. Regaining her composure quickly and wiping the tears from her eyes, she attempted to explain. "One of our young actors decided to show off some ridiculous tumbling stunt this morning to amuse a few of his friends and wound up with a broken leg. I have been scouring through everyone I can think of all day but I couldn't find anyone of a close enough size to Joseph who looked the part until you showed up. So now you can see my dilemma and why I could really use your help."She finished exasperated. Before he could decide to help anyone else their was still a job he had been paid to do first. "About...the letter M'am?" Ni-Ju asked quietly. Her answer was delivered with the same grin that had caused him to blush in the first place. "You have already delivered it young man,I AM Wilhelmina, now lets see about getting you dressed.".
