This village is responsible for a good bit of Fiore's farm and produce production alongside River Village, and Peace Village. Everything from vegetables, too beef, too steak, too pork can come from here.
However; all crops in the village; have whithered and grown thorns. Quite strange no? They also glow with a strange light; as if some kind of bad magics are at work; holding the crops into this foul state.
There aren't any wizards in the village; so they're completely baffled how entire crop fields of wheat, corn, and tomatoes could just sprout black thorns, wither, and glow. It's very, very, VERY; strange to them.
However; when you arrive; the cursed plants react to your magic power; revealing to the villagers the source of the problem. Plant Demons; feeding off of their crops.
The Plant Demons appear; popping up in waves. They look quite cute; each Plant Demon either has a head and body made up of whatever vegetable it is; with thin white legs and arms; and glowing red eyes with a mouth that they love to use to eat real crops; and too trash talk.
They will pop out of the ground randomly when they sense Magic Power for the first time in Beanstalk Village; and attack. The curse will wear off when you dispose of the Plant Demons.
Enemies:
Weak: Tomato Plant Demon x10 (D-Ranked, these Demons are real trash talkers; nothing is off limits to them. With a body like a giant tomato. Despite their tough talk; they're very weak and go down in just two hits of D-Ranked damage each; they will try to belly flop and body slam their opponents; their special technique is 'Tomato Juice Cannon'; which blasts their opponent with a stream of ketchup from their mouth; careful it packs a punch and deals D-Ranked damage and knockback that will lift you off your feet if hit.)
Normal: Corn Plant Demon x5 (D-Ranked, these Demons have a body like a giant corn cob. They don't talk tough; but think themselves very stylish. They will attempt to body flop, and body ram opponents much like the Tomato Plant Demons. Their special technique is 'Corn Corn Cannon' in which they exhale a stream of Corn, flying at bullet speed. They hurt like hell; equivalent to almost having baseballs thrown at you. Enough of them will K.O even tough wizards. This deals C-Ranked damage if hit. The Corn Plant Demons go down in 3 hits of D-Ranked damage each.)
Strong: Broccolli Plant Demon x10 (C-Ranked, these demons have a body like broccolli with glowing red eyes. They are very fast; and will charge opponents quickly with shoulder rams, and punches. Their special technique is 'Broccolli Swat'; in which they cock their body back like a gigantic fly swatter, and slam their Broccolli heads down on their opponent in a gigantic smash. This deals C-Ranked damage, and can K.O quite easily. If caught off guard you will be slow to move around and be sore for the next post. The Broccolli Plant Demons go down in 5 hits of D-Ranked damage each.)
Boss: Dark Wizard (The one who put the curse on the entire Farmlands of Beanstalk Village; this guy is not to be trifled with. He is an middle aged man with an extremely impressive beard; wearing dark robes. He uses Curse Magic. Once per turn; he will try to make one of your limbs like jelly, as well as cause you to see and hear things that aren't there. His Curse spells can do everything from make you blind, make you not able to hear, paralyze one limb, make you not be able to speak, and the ability to make your own spells backfire on you. Re: A Wizard's Grace
The sun shone down brightly causing Ni-Ju to shade his eyes against the glare. He pulled his pack up higher and began hiking down towards the village. As he approached the edge of the buildings Ni-Ju could see the dark brown glow of the desiccated crops extending for miles alongside the Clover river like some kind of huge dead snake. Without knowing exactly why something about the place caused the hair on his neck to stand on end. Brushing the feeling off Ni-Ju knocked hard on the stout wooden door frame of what he took to be the village chief's tipi. Just as his hand brushed the frame, the flap opened just a crack revealing a large set of frightened blue eyes and the business end of a newly sharpened kitchen knife. "What is it you want here stranger?" asked a very tired sounding voice. "Im the wizard your village requested and I would like to speak to the chief about the matter in question if it wouldn't be too much trouble, m'am." Ni-Ju carefully rolled up his right sleeve, revealing the dark green guild tattoo emblazoned on his wrist. After a careful check of the mark, she opened the the flap admitting him enter her home.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
"Well be quick about it deary, haven't got all day." said the grey haired old woman standing in the doorway as she briskly ushered him into the cottage, tying the flap tightly and bringing three formidable looking iron bars into place across the doorway. "Can't be too safe nowadays, can we?" She said crisply, guiding Ni-Ju into a seat covered in quilted pillows. As she stepped around the small tea table and sat down in the chair across from him, he couldn't help but notice the dark circles forming underneath the old woman's eyes and the way her hands shook as she tamped down a new bowl of tobacco into her pipe. "Now that everyone is comfortable I believe you have some questions you wanted to ask my dear." The old woman said taking a long draw from her pipe and looking at Ni-Ju expectantly. He leaned back in his chair and smacked himself on the forehead. "Im so stupid, please forgive me, I only just realized you must be the chief." Ni-Ju said ruefully, his cheeks reddening brightly. "Nothing to forgive young one now ask your questions before you make an old woman nod off." She replied chuckling softly to herself.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
Bright yellow kernels flew through the side of the tipi smashing the chief's bird skull necklace. The old woman grabbed her kitchen knife from under her chair. Ni-Ju's brow drew a bead of sweat as he remembered that same knife pointed in his direction. The chief grabbed the newly ripped flap with an angry look upon her her face, knife ready to stab the one responsible for ruining her home. "You should get out there and do something, young man, I'm too old for this kinda crap!" She said dropping the knife on the floor and slumping back into her chair with a scared expression on her face. "Hope I brought enough ammo for whatever this is." He thought to himself as he left the tipi. Standing at knee height, thirty feet away, were a small vegetable hating kids nightmare, five of the most evil specimens that corn has ever had the misfortune to produce. With the rather weird battle cry of " For the glory of What's-His-Face!" The corn eagerly charged towards Ni-Ju. Seeing the number of the charging corn monsters and quickly figuring the bleak odds of fighting them face to face, unarmed. Ni-Ju ran behind the chief's tipi, buying him the necessary time retrieve and load a drum clip into his shotgun.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
Ni-Ju ran out from behind the tipi, heading towards the river in the distance. If he could get them away from the village he figured his odds would even up quite a bit. A stream of golden yellow kernels suddenly plowed into his legs, knocking him from his feet and sending him face first into the the dirt." I'm definitely going to pay for this later." He croaked. Turning his head just in time to see the corn monsters quickly approaching. Ni-Ju heaved himself off the ground, unslinging his shotgun in the process. If these things want to shoot at people lets see how they like it when someone shoots back. He reflected, sighting down on the middle of the middle of the charging group. As the creatures entered his shotguns range he pulled the trigger, dumping a load of steel buckshot into the first two monsters, dropping them. Following up quickly, Ni-Ju fired off three more shots downing two more of the despicable creatures in like fashion. The last corn monster seeing the odds rapidly shifting out of his favor took up a keening wail and began running down the road, only to take a final resounding shot to the back, felling him. As the sound of the last shot faded, the fields to both sides of Ni-Ju seemed to come alive as more creatures poured forth.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
"You have got to be kidding me!" Ni-Ju exclaimed, looking at the fifteen fresh enemies that now surrounded him, ten of them some kind of overgrown broccoli creatures. Lacking a reasonable alternative, Ni-Ju pointed his shotgun at the nearest of the creatures, another corn monster, and blasted a hole clear through its head. He fired twice more, dropping another and clearing a big enough hole in their circle to make a break for it down the road. Fifty feet ahead, like a gift from the divine, lay a large irrigation ditch. The ditch was a good ten feet across and about four feet deep, providing a great on the fly choke point. Ni-Ju slung his shotgun on the run and unstrapped his pack. As he approached the edge he flung his pack over the ditch, following behind it at a dead sprint. Ni-Ju cleared the ditch with inch's to spare. Rooting through his newly reacquired pack, he pulled out the small box of incendiary shells he kept for emergency use. Popping open the drum from his weapon, Ni-Ju began reloading the magazine, keeping in mind that the last six shells were buckshot. From the road the vegetable horde charged forward, broccoli leading the way with the remaining three corn creatures following shortly behind.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
Without a word, Ni-Ju waited behind the buffer provided by the irrigation ditch for the small vegetable horde to close in. Screaming insults the vegetables charged the ditch, solely intent upon the capture of their prey. Seeing how angrily the vegetable creatures hounded after him, Ni-Ju began shouting slights their way, driving them madly forward. As about half the creatures filled the ditch, Ni-Ju judged it was high time to finish what these compost pile rejects had started. He racked an incendiary shell and fired into the bottleneck, lighting up the first three broccoli creatures with brilliant orange flames. "Burn you bastards!" He called out, firing three more shells into the now flaming horde of broccoli. Without warning a barrage of rock hard corn kernels took Ni-Ju in the stomach, knocking him from his feet. In a moment of cleverness the corn had ceased their charge at the other edge of the ditch and began a steady salvo of kernel missiles towards Ni-Ju's position. "Great timing, now, of all times, they choose to start exhibiting signs of a brain." Ni-Ju whispered angrily, getting to his feet. Grabbing his shotgun from the ground, Ni-Ju opened up on the remaining three corn monsters, taking more then a small amount of joy in watching them plunge into the ditch screaming as the flames ate away at their bright yellow exterior.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
Finally finding a spare moment since this nightmare of a job started, Ni-Ju sat down, feet dangling into the ditch, and began to take stock of his injuries. At least one cracked rib. He thought ruefully, feeling the bruised muscles along the left side of his stomach. "If I'm going to keep this up, I definitely need to see about getting some armor in the future." Ni-Ju chided himself gently, buttoning his shirt back up and grabbing his pack. The smell of smoke wafted up from the irrigation ditch reminding him that this job still wasn't done quite yet. He got to his feet and slung his shotgun on his back. Ni-Ju climbed down the ditch and up the other side, taking his time to keep from further damaging his ribs. All this face to face fighting was starting to wear on his nerves. Ni-Ju took off down the road, the bank of the Clover river just a quarter mile distant. The sound of more vegetable creatures moving through the fields to both sides of him caused Ni-Ju to pick up his step.As he got within a stones throw of the rivers edge, more creatures emerged from the fields, climbing the ditches.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
The arrival of more creatures set Ni-Ju's teeth on edge, driving him to run faster. The fast flowing river seemed his best bet for survival with so many things chasing after him and Ni-Ju held no illusions that he could beat so many creatures in a stand up fight without being able to use his magic. As he reached the rivers edge the ground around the bank made his decision for him, collapsing beneath his feet and sending him plummeting dozens of feet into the bone chilling waters below. The icy water closed over Ni-Ju's head, leaving him gasping for air as his head broke the surface. Kicking blindly for shore with all his might, Ni-Ju failed to notice a partially submerged log that nearly took his head off and forced him underwater again. Finding warm sand under his back as he opened his eyes, Ni-Ju blinked owl-like in confusion. The last thing he could remember was trying to get to the other side of the river then everything became a blank. Sitting up and looking around, it became fairly obvious that he had been washed a fair ways downstream but at least he remained on the same side of the river as Beanstalk Village.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
Ni-ju turned his head to the side and promptly vomited up water. Wiping his mouth, he got to his feet and began looking around for his pack. Finding it laying a short distance down the beach, among a pile of driftwood. Ni-Ju pulled his shotgun free from the pack, setting it aside to dry before going rummaging out his trap supplies. Breathing a sigh of relief upon finding everything intact, if a little moist, Ni-Ju sat down next to his pack and began to plot out a possible plan to wipe those disgusting vegetable creatures off the face of the map. Drawing a map of Beanstalk Village from memory in the sand, several likely spots for ambushes came to mind as well as a number of places that would be suitable for small scale traps designed to wound or disable. To further help his odds Ni-Ju would need to wait for the cover of full darkness in the hope that the glowing plants and and numerous shadows would provide enough cover to keep his enemies from finding him. Taking his knife from the pack, Ni-Ju picked up a long piece of driftwood and started whittling the end to a fine point in anticipation of the coming battle.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
Ni-Ju set his pack behind the large woodpile that he had chosen as his temporary base of operations. Sneaking into the village had been a piece of cake once night had set in and Ni-Ju had taken it slow in order to lessen the chances of getting spotted by any of the roving bands of plant creatures. After planting his traps at the locations he had plotted out, Ni-Ju had made his way back to the woodpile to drop off any extra weight. Slinging his recently reloaded shotgun over his shoulder and grabbing his knife, Ni-Ju crept silently into the fields searching for likely targets. Keeping to the shadows, Ni-Ju made his way through the fields to the east side of the village, stopping for a moment every time a close by noise was heard before continuing on his way to the first of his chosen ambush points. After waiting for fifteen minutes without seeing any of the blasted creatures, Ni-Ju was rewarded with the sounds of footsteps coming over the road just to the side of the field where he was currently hiding. Tensing up, he positioned his knife downward into a stabbing position and got as close to the edge of the field as he could without revealing his presence.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
As a group of broccoli creatures walked down the road in single file, Ni-Ju waited for the last one to pass him before stepping out and placing his hand over the creatures mouth. Pulling it into the field, he proceeded to carefully and systematically stab the knife into as many areas as he could, hoping for something vital. Feeling the creature go faint in his arms after its brutal ordeal, Ni-Ju lowered it to the the ground and started back through the fields, shadowing the column of broccoli. Catching up with them at an intersection of roads a few hundred yards down the road, he decided it was high time to see if the traps he had placed were up to the task. Ni-Ju poked his head out of the thorny glowing mass of corn where he was hiding, attempting to get their attention. The broccoli had stopped at the crossroads and it seemed as if they were debating on which path to take when one of the creatures near the back of the group turned and spotted Ni-Ju. With a shout the creature alerted its fellows, charging at the fields edge in its haste to see its wizard target dead.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
Ni-Ju took off through the field, the vegetable horde in close pursuit. Threading his way through the wire snares he had set with ease, Ni-Ju began shouting taunts at his approaching foes, driving them forward faster as if each jeer were a lash applied to their backs. "Come and get me you stupid bastards!" He finished, turning around and dropping his trousers enough to give them a good view of his bared buttocks . Much to his delight the broccoli ran directly towards Ni-Ju, barely noticing as most of them were whipped off the ground by the force of the wires that he had painstakingly hidden in the dead plant matter laying throughout the field. The last two stopped their charge a mere three feet from him as they realized that their compatriots were no longer beside them to help out. Baring the knife towards the first one in a feint, it stepped backwards into another snare, allowing him to jump on the second as it became distracted by the plight of its fellow. Ni-Ju viciously stabbed it again and again until it finally stopped struggling. Getting back to his feet, he stepped over the body at his feet, approaching the struggling form of the last creature he had captured with an evil grin.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
"You fellas have made my day incredibly hard." Ni-Ju stated in mater of fact tone, tapping his knife against the palm of his hand for emphasis. The broccoli flailed around in a vain attempt to hit him, dodged by the simple expedience of taking a step back. Ni-Ju lunged forward, burying his knife in the creature's head."And I'm really starting to dislike whatever it is you things are." He added, yanking the knife downward with both hands. The broccoli was very nearly bisected from stem to stern. Pulling his knife from the broccoli's corpse after taking a second to get his breath back, he made his way carefully back through the sets of snares, destroying the remaining snared broccoli in the same manner as the first. Finished with his somewhat grisly task, Ni-Ju proceeded to remove the corpses from his traps and drag them one by one to a place a little further in the field before coming back to reset the snares. From the field on the other side of the intersection where he had first encountered the broccoli, a loud set of weirdly pitched screams emanated. "Pit trap must have bagged something." He mused idly, setting the last snare back into place and giving it a light coating of earth.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
Done with the snares, Ni-Ju got back to his feet and picked up his gore soaked knife from the ground next to the last of the reset traps. The screams continued to echo over the fields as he slowly made his way back to the crossroad. The constant physical effort throughout the day was beginning to catch up with him. He could feel just a bit of sluggishness in his movements, not enough to be a major hindrance but more then enough to make him wary of getting caught between enough of those monsters. Peeking out from the edge of the field several times before he was satisfied the road was clear, Ni-Ju ducked down and ran for the other side. Feeling just a bit safer back in the protection of the eerie shadows of fields, Ni-Ju began to carefully pick his way through the glowing stalks towards where he had placed the only pit trap that he could finish in time to be of use. The trap itself was of modest dimensions, due to time constraints, a mere five by ten foot hole around seven feet deep and filled with wrist thick wooden spikes, sharpened to a needle-like point.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
Hearing the sound of weirdly pitched voices arguing from a short distance ahead, Ni-Ju decided to circle around and try to possibly catch them off guard. Getting into place after a nerve wracking few minutes of sneaking, he could see a group of tomato creatures, ten in number, clustered around the pit that he had dug. Inside the pit three corn creatures lay impaled on wooden spikes with two more hanging desperately on the side of the pit with their tiny arms. Rushing out behind them as the tomatoes tried to pull up the distressed corn, Ni-Ju shoved them as hard as he could.Three of the tomatoes nearest to the pit went head over heels to join the impaled corn in their earthen grave. Ni-Ju dashed back between the stalks as quickly as he could after managing to pull off that little stunt, he could hear the sounds of the tomatoes calling out curses as they stumbled through the field in pursuit. After sprinting a short distance, Ni-Ju dropped into a crouch beside a large cluster of withered corn that had become entangled with its neighbor, forming a small nook to hide in. The sound of a stalk breaking a short distance away caused his hand to tense around the knife.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
As the sounds of movement got within reaching distance, Ni-Ju jumped out of his hiding spot in an attempt to overwhelm his opponent before it realized there was any danger. He couldn't fail to hide his surprise as he was confronted with the sight of a large pair of green eyes belonging to a wandering cat. Breathing a sigh of relief, Ni-Ju tucked his knife into the waistband of his pants and shooed the cat away. "Sorry little guy but this isn't a very good spot to be at the moment." He whispered after the fleeing feline. Taking the chance that the vegetable creatures were out in the field looking for him, Ni-Ju circled back around to the pit he had fled from to make sure that the creatures that had fallen prey to his trap were well and truly disabled. Finding everything much as he had hoped for, Ni-Ju walked to the edge of the hole and set about working one of the stakes loose from the ground. From the northern edge of the clearing a tomato creature sauntered in. Spotting Ni-Ju from the other side of the pit, the creature let loose a high pitched scream and charged at him as fast as its little legs could move it.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
Working off of just reflex, Ni-Ju took the creatures arm, pulling it into a Morote Seoinage, a two arm shoulder throw common to all users of judo. As the tomato sailed over his shoulder, Ni-Ju twisted around to face his fallen opponent. The creature's left arm hung limply from its body as it shakily got to its feet. Ni-Ju drew his knife from his waistband and waited for the creature to make another move. Failing to disappoint, the creature once again charged Ni-Ju as if it didn't care at all about the damage that it had taken. Waiting until the last possible second, Ni-Ju sidestepped the creature and planted his boot in it's back, sending it flying into the pit to join its comrades. Finished with that minor nuisance, Ni-Ju worked the stake he had been after free and gave it a few experimental thrusts to check the balance, finding it acceptable enough. In the process of checking over his makeshift spear, he failed to notice that three of the corn monsters had crept out of the field and were taking careful aim at him. Letting fly with a barrage of bright yellow kernels in his direction, the corn began their attack.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
Ni-Ju felt more then saw as the first of the rapidly moving projectile missed him by just a few short hand lengths. The second shot, either through luck or some sort of cruel irony, took him on the left side of his jaw just above the adams apple spinning him about and knocking him to the ground. Lying in the dust of the field in a daze, Ni-Ju could just barely make out the sounds of his assailants approaching closer. As everything seemed to be at its darkest moment with the young mage downed and alone, Ni-Ju could suddenly feel an amazing sense of clarity as if everything had happened the way it was supposed to. The thought seemed crazy even to a practitioner of magic but it was almost as if he could tell exactly what was going to happen over the course of the next few minutes. Rolling to the side just enough to avoid the next shot, Ni-Ju palmed a small stone from the ground beneath him and lashed out with a kick at the the closest of the corn creatures. The legs of the oddly proportioned creature crumpled beneath it with a sickening "Crunch!" sound, sending it flailing as it tumbled to the ground beside him.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
Using the newly wounded creature as a makeshift shield, Ni-Ju picked himself from the ground and charged its two remaining comrades. The corn creature in his hands stopped struggling after taking the first few hits from the fast flying kernels of its frightened allies leaving it in a solidly comatose state as he covered the last few feet of distance separating them. With as loud a yell as he could muster, Ni-Ju threw the unconscious form in his arms at the creature on the left and proceeded to tackle the corn to his right. As both of them hit the dirt, Ni-Ju placed one hand over the creature's left eye and began battering its head with the rock he had grabbed when he had fallen the first time. The creature went berserk in his arms, firing rock hard kernels in every direction at random in a vain attempt to stop the pain it was receiving. With a surety he couldn't begin to understand Ni-Ju knew that in twenty seconds the last of the patrols of tomatoes would be coming through the field on the far side of the pit he had dug and when they did he would be ready. Turning the head of the corn just as the tomatoes made their entrance, Ni-Ju made use of his blinded foe's rapid attack to mow down the freshly arrived reinforcements. After several more minutes of frantically bashing at the corn in his hands it finally went limp. Getting to his feet unsteadily, Ni-Ju picked up the knife that had fallen from his belt and made quick work of what remained of the corn creatures.

Re: A Wizard's Grace
As the last of the vegetable abominations met their just end at the edge of his knife, the fields all around Ni-Ju ceased their malevolent glow and began to shed the thorny vines that had robbed them of the energy necessary to grow and ripen. "Think I will ask for some help in cleaning up the mess." He mused, tucking his knife back into the waistband of his pants and picking up the wooden spear he had dropped when the corn had attacked. Using the spear as a walking stick, Ni-Ju began slowly trudging his way through the fields back into the village proper. He must not have been the only person to notice the change in the fields because by the time Ni-Ju had made it past the first tipi he was swarmed by overjoyed farm folk all of whom greeted him with hearty pats on the back and a number of invitations to join them for supper to as they put it "Put some meat on those bones.". Declining as gracefully as one can while being partially supported by a stick, Ni-Ju stubbornly continued on his way to the Mayor's tipi. Upon arriving he found the old woman, still holding her pipe, standing just outside the entrance to her tipi with a large grin on her face. "It seems Beanstalk Village has much to thank you for young man!"
