The sun hovered slowly in the sky. Its vampiric tendrils had tightened the firm hold on the day, sapping away energy in exchange for heat and life.
It didn't even matter which part of the day it was. The sky's ruler was scorching the world with ruthless consistency; one could almost smell the stench of decay. It smeared a dreary sense of warmth across the scene.

However, in that hot landscape remained something else. Aegis -- striking a stark contrast with his surroundings, as always. But the cared little about how much he fitted in the image; it wouldn't really matter soon, after all.
With elegance not unlike that of a crane, he calmly walked on the seared floor of Sabertooth's floating structure. His heels struck a deaf note of clatter against the majestic building, one for each step. Indeed, he walked upon the platform leading to castle Sabertooth.
    His prison.

It wasn't long before Aegis reached the centre of the main platform. His mind grew cautious and his gaze averted itself, chasing after the slowly shrinking image of the stone walls and towers he was leaving behind. With that, his movement stopped abruptly for just a moment; long enough for him to glance behind, and cringe. Yet still he smiled, as faint as always, leaving that last gesture of affection behind.
"It seems you have developed. I cared for you too much. I am..."
    ... Sorry.

Once the lonesome apology was finished, the azure knight turned away from the building for a final time and it wasn't more than a minute before he had left the platform. Gone, indeed; scattering himself to the wind yet again.
