A Matter of Things the go Bump in the Night.(Private- Karina/Kiba)

Kiba had taken the day off and was sitting outside on the roof today, reading of course. But he had taken to reading books for entertainment and not just to have them memorized. Kiba hummed to himself as he picked up a cup of Tea that was balanced on a window seal, and taking a sip. It was a nice day, The sun was there with a hint of rain to make the pleasant atmosphere. The book he was reading today was a adventure book, one that was about a elf suffering through unwarranted persecution. Kiba sighed and replaced the cup on its perch. He smile and turned the page on his book, putting bookmark in the page. Kiba stood and stretched, he set the book down next to the cup. 

"I think in want something to eat." Kiba remarked to himself then stepped of the side of the roof, landing in-front of the guild building. "I think ill get something sweet." Kiba smiled to himself, It was good to have a place to belong.

"Itsumo hitori no~" Sang Karina to herself as she flipped through the pages of one of the magazines she had found lying around the guild. She was not really paying attention to the words before her, her mind wandering somewhere far beyond from where she sat in the guild hall. Turning the pages of the magazine every now and then she sipped on the cup of peppermint tea, savoring its sweet taste.
Her flow of lost thoughts were soon interrupted by a quite growl from Karinas stomach. Her eyes widened in surprise as she closed the magazine and said aloud to herself, "My, what awful manors I have." Placing her teacup down on the table, she stood up and stretched her arms above her head, yawning. "I should probably get something to eat... Oh! I should go out for a meal," She nodded at her decision and made her way over to the front door of the guild.

As Karina stepped outside a small breeze tugged at her long hair and ruffled the hem of her dress. Raising a hand she brushed her hair out of her face, before jumping back in surprise as a figure landed a meter away from her. "Kiba?!" She gasped as she resumed a less startled stance and recognized the person in front of her immediately.

Kiba turn as someone called out his name to see Karina Akuma, a demon who joined the guild a while back. "Karina! hello." He smiled at her, "sorry about that, was on the roof reading." Kiba smiled at her. "Well I'm going to get something to eat would you like to join me?" he motioned towards the city, "My treat." If she said yes Kiba would lead the way to a small cafe that he liked. They had some of the best tea in the city in his opinion as well as some great food.

"Good day~" Karina smiled back at him after composing herself from the shock of his appearance, "And yes I would love to join you for something to eat, I was just on my way to get something to eat actually. Oh and you don't need to treat me, I will contribute to the cost happily." She felt the second part was necessary, she didnt want Kiba to feel like she was taking advantage of him or anything.
"Lets go then~" She smiled up at him and linked her arm through his casually, "Lead the way~ Oh and you didnt hurt yourself when you dropped from the roof did you?"

Kiba smiled as Karina took him up on his offer, he didn't mind if she paid a little. "So how are you liking the guild so far?" Kiba wanted to know how she had been doing since they had meet all that time ago. Kiba lead her to the cafe, he was in a good mood today and he was happy to have someone to talk to today. "Your a Slayer of some sort right?" Kiba had never really gotten to know what her magic was. He lead her to a outside table when he pulled her chair out for her.

"Hmm, Well I havent really spoken to anyone in quite a long time. I am a bit out of touch with our fellow guild mates, which is a shame. I dont know any of the new members at all. However I still love everyone just as much as I did when I first joined," Smiling brightly at Kiba she spoke and walked along side him towards the place they were to be eating.
As they neared a cafe, Kiba asked another question and pulled out a chair for her at one of the tables outside. "Thank you~" She bowed at him then sat down in the chair, "Yes I am a slayer. A hell demon slayer to be precise." Her words were empty of emotion, she ought to be proud of her magic however it only brought back tragic memories of her parents.

"Hell Demon slayer? So you use holy magic?" Kiba asked as a waitress approched.

"Oh hello again Kiba." She set down two menus, "whos your friend?" The woman smiled at Karina as she spoke. 

"Another guild member," Kiba motioned for Karina to introduce herself. "Anyways, That magic sounds powerful." Kiba handed the menu back to the waitress.

"Oh figures you would not even look..." she stated with a small laugh, she then turned to Karina. "What would you like Ma'am?"

"Mmm I guess," Karina nodded and looked away from Kiba, not wanting to get into a deep conversation about her magic- especially not the topic of how she got it. Luckily before much more could be said a waitress approached their table.
She was filled with happiness as she was called Kiba's 'friend' by the waitress, she was not used to owning this title and was very proud to have it.
"Kinda... Maybe... I dont know..." Karina replied to Kibas statement about her magic sounding powerful, whilst clutching the menu that had been placed down in front of her and pretending to read it intently. She wondered if Kiba was a regular here for the waitress seemed to know him quite a bit.
"Um, please may I have..." She scanned the menu, searching for something she would want to eat, "A scone with cream and jam please... And some lemon team please... That it~"

"Ok, ill be right back with your drinks." The waitress walked away.

Kiba noticed Karina lack of forth coming when it came to her magic so he decided to leave it alone. "So how has your day been so far? Liking the weather?" Kiba really didn't know much about Karina so going was slow. 

The waitress returned and set to a tray on the table, on the tray was two cups of tea and a muffen and the scone. "anything else?" Kiba shook his head as he took up his tea. 

"I'm Good." Kiba put some honey in his tea. "Need anything Karina?" He smiled at her as he took up a spoon to stir his tea. Kiba set the Spoon aside, "So Karina anything you like to do?"

"Mmm not really, I prefer the weather to be stormy... But my day has been good," Karina looked across at Kiba and smiled, "I have spent my day so far wandering about the guild and sat in the guild hall... I didnt speak to anyone... But it was still fun watching the chaos they caused among each other~"
Karina almost always tried to look on the bright side of things and ignored the fact that she didnt really know people in the guild that well anymore for her absence had created distance between her and the rest.

She picked up her teacup, which had recently been placed before her, and began to sip on the deliciously warm lemon tea. Shaking her head in response to Kibas question of needing anything more, she placed her cup back down.

"Um..." Karina tilted her head to the side, subconsciously, whilst thinking about what she liked to do, "I dont really know." Her eyes widened as she spoke, "I-I dont really do much. What about you? What do you like to do?"

"Ah your a rain girl eh?" Kiba smile taking another sip of his tea. "No matter." Kiba Looked at her as he set his cup down.  "Well thats no good, your a member of this guild and thus apart of the Eclipse soul family." 

Kiba picked up his muffen and took the wrapper off of it, which he set aside. Kiba took a bite and looked out the window as he chewed. He remember Karina giving everyone hugs when she first join, he found it hard to believe she just stopped caring about the guild.

"How do you not know what you like to do?" Kiba looked at her as he spoke. Kiba smiled and took another sip of tea. "Well i am the Librarian of the guild so i guess you could say i like reading." Kiba set his cup down. "have you been to the summit of Phoenix Mountain yet?"

"Mhmm I guess I like the rain," Karina picked up the small knife in front of her and began to cut her scone in half and spread butter on it, "Oh, I do think of you all as my family, its just that I don't know everyone that well. I still love everyone though~" She smiled at him before taking a bite out of her scone.  It tasted delicious~

"I mean I dont really do much... I disappeared from the guild for a while and when I returned I never really picked up any hobbies. I have heard you like to read," She grinned up at him, "I used to read with my father. I enjoyed it greatly." However reading was an occupation of time that Karina had lost, her mind always wandered, leaving her staring at the words but not taking them in.

"No sorry I do not know what or where that place is, Why do you ask?" She sipped on her tea, smiling.

Kiba smiled as Karina started talking, he hoped she would open up. "Books, You do know that the Guild has a very large library?" Kiba Finished off his tea but nearly choked when she told him she had never been to the peak. 

Kiba cleared his throat and set his empty cup down, "So your telling me you live in the mountains and have not taken the time to go see them?" Kiba picked up his muffin and went about finishing it. 

"Well if your up for it i can show you?" Kiba wished he need to show her these things, This was the land of Eclipse, and she had every right to see it.

"Oh no I didnt know that actually, I haven't explored the whole of the guild even to this day! I will make sure to have a look at it sometime," She lifted her teacup two her lips and was about to take a sip before Kiba almost started choking and she almost spilled her tea down her front as she was laughing at his reaction.

She placed her almost empty teacup back on the table and nodded at Kiba, "Mhmm yes what you say is the truth, I have never explored the mountains. I would love to go and see them with you~ Thank you very much!"

Karina was happy that Kiba had offered, she had not spent as much time out in the fresh air as she ought to at this time of the year. She the remains of her scone in half with the knife and popped one half into her mouth, "So when would you like to go?"

Kiba looked at Karina as she spoke and smiles. "How about we go see them now?" Kiba waved for the waitress to come over.

"Yes?" She asked as she came near. 

"Can i get the tab." Kiba asked pulling out his wallet. 

"Oh sure here." she set down a piece of paper. Kiba picked it up a looked at it, then pulled out the jewel required.

Kiba stood up as the waitress left with the money. "well shall we?" he offered a great smile and offered her his hand to help her up.

Karina sat quietly as the waitress came over and took Kiba's payment for their drinks and treats and waited for her to leave with the money and empty plates and cups.

She smiled up at Kiba and took the hand he offered her, bowing her head and saying a word of thanks whilst getting up to her feet.

Once she was stood up and her chair was tucked back under the table they had been sat at, Karina patted down her dress and pushed her hair back from hanging over her shoulders.

Karina then linked arms with Kiba and grinned, "Lets go~"

Kiba Grinned back at her. "Lets" The path Kiba took was one he had learned as a child. When he had lived in the shrine it was a long trek, but from the city it was only about a hours walk. He would show her every sight he had enjoyed on the way.

The first was the frozen falls, a water fall frozen in time. It was the closest sight to see, it was still a ways off.  As Kiba led the way he stopped for a second. "I love these mountains, i hope you will too." he offered her a smile.

"If you love them I am sure I will Kiba," Karina smiled back at Kiba as he stopped for a brief moment, smiling at her. Of course what she said was the honest truth, she would not lie about liking something, she truly did look forward to observing the land belonging to her guild.

She used to go on many walks like this when she was a child. She would always go out on a Friday afternoon with her mother and father, down to the riverside a few miles away from their manor and have a picnic her mother had made the night before. Karina missed those times.

However they were only memories, times that were supposed to be left behind in the past. Not things that one should dwell on for too long. Karina smiled ahead and began walking again.

Kiba would lead Karina to the Frozen falls, a place where the grandest of waterfalls stood frozen in time. He hoped to show Karina a good time, and Kiba was just going to do the best he could. He would lead her up a old foot path to the falls, it was steep and had a bit of ice on it. Kiba just hoped she would like it despite her reassurances that she would. Finally at the end of the foot path came a small clearing that over looked the fall.

Karina followed Kiba up an old foot path, not really knowing where their first destination was to be, just that it was somewhere in the mountains. As the continued to walk the ground gradually became icy and rather steep, Karina began to find it a little bit harder to climb the ascent without slipping.

Of course it was only moments later that Karina's feet suddenly slipped from beneath her and her body began to fall to the ground. She let out a quiet yelp and clung to the thing closest to her, which happened to be Kiba's body, in order to regain her balance and footing.

She pulled herself back up using Kiba's arm, probably hurting him a little bit, and apologized to Kiba for the fuss. "Sorry, I couldn't help it, I just lost my footing. I shall be more careful next time."

However her attention was soon drawn away from Kiba and towards the picturesque sight in front of her. Her mouth hung open and she rushed forward to get closer to what the two had just come across. It was what appeared to be a frozen waterfall, its once flowing water was frozen in the air, hanging down from the ledge at sharp angles.

Karina stared as the sunlight bounced off of the ice and caused it to sparkle, "...This is beautiful Kiba..." She had never seen anything like it in her entire life and was glad she could share the new experience with Kiba.

Kiba was not hurt by her fall, he even went farther to try and help it. But she managed to not fall. "are you ok?" she reassured him she was ok and Kiba sigh a slightly as she caught sight of the first destination. Kiba smiled at Karina and motioned to her to follow her. he would lead her to a small outcropping where the sun met the spray perfectly causing large amounts of Rainbows. "This place is amazing." Kiba took a seat on the edge, his legs hanging over it.

Kiba smiled at Karina, a smile which she returned happily her, then motioned at her to follow him, which she did happily. He lead her over to a small outcropping where the sun met the spray perfectly creating an illusion of many rainbows in the air. Karina watched Kiba as he sat down with his legs dangling over the edge, hesitating to sit down next to him for she was too sidetracked by staring at the wonderful colours before her. "This truly is beautiful Kiba, thank you for sharing such a place with me. It means a lot." Karina breathed through amazement then sat down next to Kiba, resting her head against his shoulder.

"Yeah, Lan showed me th..." Kiba stopped and let out a sigh. "Well I'm glad you enjoy it." Kiba looked at Karina and smiled. "So where are you from." Kiba had always wondered this since she came to the guild. She had let it out that she was a half-demon pretty early on, and that made Kiba curious. "If you have any questions for me feel free to ask." 

Kiba returned to looking at the scene, he wondered what fate had in store for him, if he gauged his own power right he would live for hundreds of years. That was longer than any human would ever live, did that make him something other than human?

"Hey... am i still human?" As Kiba spoke he let his other form take over, his hands became clawed, his teeth fanged. He changed into something less human and more of a beast. "Do you think someone would... Nevermind." Kiba's dismissed his own words quickly.

Karina noticed how Kiba stopped mid sentence and sighed, he clearly had said too much and was trying to avoid certain subjects. She understood this and did not pry him for answers to the many questions which had surfaced in her mind due to his words.
She smiled back at Kiba and replied to his question of where she is from, "I have lived with my parents for most of my life. We lived in a manor in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by a beautiful forest. I never really saw many other people. But I didnt mind. Then I um... Left?... My parents house and I lived on the streets for a while actually, it is rather embarrassing to admit." Karina dd not ask any questions in return because she was too afraid of saying something wrong to Kiba and upsetting him and bringing up subjects he didnt want to speak about.
Watching Kiba as he looked out at the scenery Karina couldnt help but wonder what secrets he hid for she knew everyone had them. And Kiba seemed to have many interesting things to tell.
Karina did not even blink as Kiba shifted forms, it did not surprise her in the slightest as many would have never guessed. She was not scared of what many would consider to be a monster that was beside her. She smiled at Kiba once more before closing her eyes and focusing all of her energy on her task.
A small breeze picked up and by the time she opened her eyes again they were bright red. She also now owned a small pair of horns and a long, slender tail. Her whole being gave off a dark aura. Looking up at Kiba she grinned, "Only as human as I am," And wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a hug.

Kiba looked at her as she changed, not a hint of fear on his face. "Hmm i guess your right... it does not matter what i am, just WHO i am." Kiba returned the hug. "I guess i was unsure of what i was. Not that i know still..." Kiba smiled. "will you help me find out what i am?" Kiba hoped to have a friend with him when he returned to the Yukiko shrine. "I wish to return to my home... to where my family died and to Ceiliaza Villiage, where i killed all the villagers..."
